NFL draft: Ranking all 24 quarterback classes since 2000
The 2024 NFL Draft offers yet another pool of potential franchise quarterbacks. Before we welcome those prospects into the club, let's take stock of where we stand today. Marc Sessler has once again updated his rankings of each QB draft class that has entered the NFL since the turn of the millennium. Last offseason's rankings have been altered to reflect a scenery-shifting 2023 campaign. NOTE: Pro Bowlers are denoted by an asterisk (*).
Derek and David Carr: Measure E is a great way to support Fresno State and the Valley | Opinion
Former Bulldog Coach Pat Hill’s “Anyone, anywhere, anytime” is a phrase that has personified the value of Fresno State to the region and the country. We both see the value of the lifelong lessons Fresno State taught us, both on the field and in the classroom. On the field, Fresno State has made its reputation for doing more with less, consistently proving that we should never be underestimated.

Final top 15 offensive player rankings of the 2023 NFL regular season
Each week in the 2023 campaign, former No. 1 overall pick and NFL Network analyst David Carr ranked his top 15 offensive players in the NFL. Now that the regular season is officially behind us, he's compiled his final top 15 for the year. NOTE: The ranking is based solely on the 2023 regular season. Lamar Jackson enjoyed his best season as a passer in his first year under Todd Monken, ranking in the top five in pass yards per attempt (8.0), pass TD-to-INT ratio (24:7) and passer rating (102.7).
Russell Wilson landing spots: Ranking six potential team fits for nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback
Russell Wilson's benching for the final two games of the 2023 regular season signaled a potential split from the Denver Broncos in the coming offseason. Several factors led to that decision, but the financial aspect was undoubtedly significant, along with the veteran quarterback's mediocre on-field play in Sean Payton's first season with the team. It isn't out of the question that Wilson ultimately stays in Denver for 2024.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 16: Building the NFC 2024 Pro Bowl Games roster on offense
Fan voting for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games has opened, and what better gift to send to your favorite NFL players this holiday season than to select them for this year's Pro Bowl. It's pretty perfect, if you think about it. There is still time to fill out your own ballot, with fan voting concluding on Monday, Dec. 25. In the meantime, I've decided to once again make my own list of offensive players worthy of making the team.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 16: Building the AFC 2024 Pro Bowl Games roster on offense

2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 14: Three offenses with exceedingly bright futures
The Kansas City Chiefs have earned a reputation as an offensive juggernaut, going back to when Patrick Mahomes took over the quarterbacking reins full time in 2018. They set a gold standard via three key elements: elite quarterback play, a talented supporting cast and savvy play-calling. That said, Kansas City has not been a well-oiled machine in 2023 because two of those factors -- the supporting cast and play-calling -- have been lacking.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 13: How Panthers can salvage Bryce Young's rookie season
Coming into the 2023 NFL season, I had high hopes for what the Carolina Panthers might do with first overall pick Bryce Young, especially under Frank Reich's tutelage. Now, 12 weeks into the quarterback's rookie season, the organization has fired Reich and a pair of offensive assistants -- QBs coach Josh McCown and assistant HC/RBs coach Duce Staley -- after winning only one game in the first three months. The win-loss record stands out, of course, but so does the lack of offensive production.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 11: Russell Wilson, Brandon Aiyuk among 10 Pro Bowl sleepers
Now that we've entered the second half of the 2023 NFL regular season, fan voting will soon open for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. Which players will earn the chance to participate in the festivities at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, Feb. 4? Superstars like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey and Tyreek Hill could be locks this year, but who are the sleepers? I've got you covered for the offensive skill positions (QB, RB, WR, TE), with five sleepers from each conference.
2023 NFL predictions, midseason edition: Picks to win MVP, DPOY and other awards at 'NFL Honors'

2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 9: Agree or disagree with three QB decisions?
There has been a ton of quarterback news in the NFL this week, and even that feels like an understatement. First came the injuries with Minnesota losing Kirk Cousins for the season and Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford sustaining a UCL sprain in his right thumb. Then the trades, with the Arizona Cardinals shipping Joshua Dobbs to a Vikings team not yet ready to throw in the towel. And teams made some other interesting quarterback decisions, too.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 7: Five best backup quarterback situations
Playing quarterback is the hardest job in the National Football League. That was my sentiment before I was a backup. In this space last season, I went into great depth about what it takes for a backup to step into a starting role. It's an incredibly difficult position to be in, transitioning from contributing in weekly preparation to being the voice of the game plan and executing on Sundays.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 6: Weighing what's next for three slumping offenses
We're in Week 6 of the NFL season, and there's a lot to like when it comes to offensive play. There's also a lot to, uh, not like. Over the past two weeks, Bill Belichick suffered the two worst home losses by margin of his career. His New England Patriots were shut out by the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, while quarterback Mac Jones turned the ball over three times and the offense compiled just 156 yards. "Obviously, it was a poor performance today here," Belichick said after Sunday’s 34-0 loss.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 5: Ten players I want to see more involved moving forward
We are one quarter of the way through the 2023 NFL season, and there have been relatively few surprises when it comes to the highest producing offensive players -- although Puka Nacua has been the revelation no one saw coming. But what about the players who should be getting more love in their respective offenses? That's why I'm here. Today, I'm taking a week off from my regular top 15 offensive player rankings to identify 10 players who should be more involved moving forward. Let's jump right in.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 4: Desmond Ridder among QBs I'm putting on notice
Some NFL quarterbacks have had rough starts to the 2023 season -- the New York Jets' Zach Wilson and Chicago Bears' Justin Fields are two who come to mind. But they aren't the only quarterbacks who might be feeling the heat, even at this early stage of the season. As we enter Week 4, here are three starting QBs I'm putting on notice.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 3: Three offensive surprises who aren't flukes
The biggest offensive surprise of the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL season? I have to think it's Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua. Selected in the fifth round of April's draft, the BYU product has caught everything Matthew Stafford has thrown his way, setting several league records in the process. The rookie followed his 10-catch, 119-yard NFL debut with a 15-catch, 147-yard performance in Week 2.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 2: Best QB option for Jets? Evaluating 6 struggling offenses
Week 1 has already come and gone, and there's one trend that's resurfaced from a year ago. In Week 1 of 2022, six teams scored 10 offensive points or less. Fast-forward one year, and it happened again.
2023 NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 1: Patrick Mahomes No. 1; four teams land two players
Entering the 2023 NFL season, former No. 1 overall pick and NFL Network analyst David Carr takes a look at all offensive players and ranks his top 15. For the first quarter of the season, the rankings are based on a combination of: Player accomplishments from the 2022 season. Weekly performances, factoring in strength of opponent. Rankings will be solely judged on this season's efforts following Week 4.
Top 10 running backs entering the 2023 NFL season
"The Top 100 Players of 2023" -- voted on by the players themselves -- is underway on NFL+! A new group of 10 players will be revealed every weekday through Thursday, Aug. 3. The series concludes with a two-hour live show -- "The Top 100 Players of 2023: The Top 10" -- on Monday, Aug. 7, on NFL+. Five running backs are among the players ranked in Nos. 40-21.
NFL draft: Rating each quarterback class since 2000
The 2023 NFL Draft affords yet one more pool of potential franchise quarterbacks. Earlier than we welcome these prospects into the membership, let’s take inventory of the place we stand at this time. Marc Sessler has as soon as once more up to date his rankings of every QB draft class that has entered the NFL because the flip of the millennium. Last offseason’s rankings have been altered to replicate a scenery-shifting 2022 marketing campaign.
NFL draft: Ranking every quarterback class since 2000
The first round produced a long-range starter in Alex Smith and one of football's burning suns in four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers. We all know how Rodgers fumed while watching 21 teams (the Vikings and Cowboys each picked twice in the top 23) pass him by before the Packers added him to a roster already equipped with Brett Favre under center. The chance to sit and learn helped Rodgers, who went on to win a Super Bowl and emerge as a lock for Canton.
Offensive Player Rankings: Offensive All-Rookie Team for the 2022 NFL season
Brock Purdy's remarkable rookie season rolls on, with the quarterback set to lead the 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs Sunday -- but he's not the only first-year pro who shined on offense this season. After scanning the outstanding debut efforts from the regular season, I present my Offensive All-Rookie Team of 2022. And be sure to check out Kevin Patra's Defensive All-Rookie Team.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings after the 2022 regular season; three playoff offenses with serious concerns
From where I sit, just a handful of offenses appear to be at the height of their powers entering the playoffs. One of them, Kansas City's potent attack, is literally running circles around opponents. With MVP front-runner Patrick Mahomes under center in K.C., I have zero concerns about the Chiefs' offense. The AFC's No. 1 seed won't be active again until the Divisional Round, but once the Chiefs join the postseason party, they'll put points on the board. No doubt about it.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 17: Five QBs who could save careers -- and one who can repair legacy
There's a lot to discuss after an eventful Week 16, so let's jump right into it. Today, I'm looking at five quarterbacks who can solidify or save their career trajectories over the final two weeks of the 2022 regular season -- and one additional passer who can do some work to repair his legacy.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 16: Dak Prescott among four superstars playing below expectation
Now is the time of year when the NFL's biggest superstars take matters into their own hands to help their respective teams qualify for the postseason. We've seen such players rise when the stakes are highest -- guys like quarterback Joe Burrow, who's led the Bengals to six straight wins, and wide receiver Justin Jefferson, whose prolific production just helped the Vikings complete the largest comeback win in NFL history. However, not every great player has answered the bell.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 15: Building the AFC Pro Bowl Games roster on offense
The 2023 Pro Bowl Games rosters will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network during NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed. In the meantime, I've decided to once again make my own list of offensive players worthy of making this year's team. Below, I have selected 21 players from the AFC who deserve to make this year's Pro Bowl Games, a reimagined week-long event that features player skills in unique AFC vs.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 15: Building the NFC Pro Bowl Games roster on offense

Offensive Player Rankings, Week 14: Four teams whose 2023 starting QB isn't on the current roster
Last year at this time, I determined that four specific teams would open the 2022 campaign with a starting quarterback who wasn't even on the roster in 2021 -- and three of them did indeed end up trotting out a new QB in Week 1 of this season. Two years ago, I spotlighted seven teams in this space -- and six went on to start new signal-callers in Week 1 of 2021. I must say, I'm pretty good at this.
Three NFL teams that should be in the market for 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2023 offseason
The arrival of Week 13 provides a little déjà vu in this space. At this time last season, Jimmy Garoppolo's future in San Francisco was in question, prompting me to explore the quarterback's market for the 2022 NFL offseason. One year later, Garoppolo's still quarterbacking the 49ers, but his future remains a trendy topic. Before assessing which teams should be in the market for the impending free agent, let's quickly review all that's happened over the past 12 months.
Benching Zach Wilson right call for Robert Saleh's Jets -- and could help QB's long-term development
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh's announcement Wednesday that quarterback Zach Wilson will be benched for Mike White ahead of a Week 12 matchup with the Chicago Bears was the result of what was surely a difficult decision. But with his team at 6-4 and in playoff contention despite Wilson's lackluster performance, Saleh couldn't get this call wrong -- and, in my opinion, he did exactly what needed to be done.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 11: Justin Fields, Christian Kirk among 10 Pro Bowl sleepers
The Pro Bowl Games may be new for this NFL season, but Pro Bowl fan voting is back. Who will earn the chance to participate in the festivities at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 5? Superstars like Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley and Justin Jefferson could be locks this year, but who are the sleepers? I've got you covered for the offensive skill positions (QB, RB, WR, TE), with five sleepers from each conference.

Offensive Player Rankings, Week 10: Patrick Mahomes No. 1 at midseason
Each week in the 2022 campaign, former No. 1 overall pick and NFL Network analyst David Carr will take a look at all offensive players and rank his top 15. Rankings are based solely on this season's efforts. The Week 10 pecking order is below. NOTE: Arrows reflect changes from Week 7's rankings. The Chiefs have faced playoff contenders in their last two games, earning victories over the 49ers on the road in Week 7 and the Titans at home on Sunday night.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 9: Re-drafting the 2021 QB class! Sorting Fields, Lawrence and Co.
Actually drafted: Round 3, No. 67 overall Where he should've been selected: within the top 10 picks You might think I'm crazy for saying Mills is a top-10 pick, especially in light of his 3-14-1 record as a starter for Houston. But stay with me on this. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Mills is a good athlete with a big arm. He's an accurate passer (65.4 career completion percentage) who has a lot of the same qualities of Andrew Luck, another former Stanford Cardinal.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 8: Five best bang-for-your-buck QBs AND five worst QB values of 2022
Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich's Monday announcement that the team was benching starting quarterback Matt Ryan in favor of Sam Ehlinger for the rest of the season was stunning. When the Colts traded for the veteran in the offseason, I'm not so sure anyone expected a change like this to come before November. But then Ryan threw nine interceptions and coughed up 11 fumbles (both league highs) through seven games, leading Indy to a 3-3-1 record, and here we are.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 7: Weighing five potential quarterback decisions
Six weeks are in the books, and several teams have already made a change at the quarterback position, whether due to injury or ineptitude. Some backups have flourished after stepping into the spotlight (SEE: New England's Bailey Zappe), while others have floundered (Cleveland's Jacoby Brissett). Today, I'm taking a look at five interesting quarterback situations and discussing whether each team should stick with the current QB1 or make a switch. Let's dive in: This one is pretty simple.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 6: Four best team fits for WR Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr. is targeting a mid-November return to the field as he continues to recover from a torn ACL suffered during Super Bowl LVI. That's got to be music to several teams' ears, considering the free agent could theoretically be available to help provide a boost after the league's Nov. 1 trade deadline, similar to what he did in 2021.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 5: Three players who can rebound after slow first quarter of season
Hard to believe we're already a quarter of the way through the 2022 NFL regular season. For some players, the first four games have been fruitful, a promising beginning to what could be a prolific season. For others, well, it's time to just turn the page and hopefully start anew. Here are three offensive players who can rebound after a slow start to the season: The Colts' coaching staff was enamored by Ryan in training camp, waxing poetic about his knowledge, leadership and "insane" accuracy.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 4: What does it take to step into the starting role as a QB2?
The backup quarterback has been at the forefront of the 2022 NFL season so far. This includes Jacoby Brissett in Cleveland, Joe Flacco in New York and Jimmy Garoppolo in San Francisco. But perhaps no backup has been as good as Cooper Rush in Dallas.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 3: Fixing Bengals' passing game
It's been a grim -- REAL grim -- start to the 2022 season for the Cincinnati Bengals' offense. Last season, the offensive line was perceived as one of the only weak spots in an attack that helped carry Cincinnati to the Super Bowl. Fixes made to that unit this offseason raised expectations. But Joe Burrow and Co. have fallen far short, with the offense failing to find any sort of rhythm and settling into the bottom half of the NFL in terms of yardage, while the team has gone 0-2 this season.
Offensive Player Rankings, Week 2: Offenses to worry about, ones who should bounce back
There are always some surprises in Week 1. For starters, I did not expect to see the Dallas Cowboys limited to three points in the season opener. Dallas had the NFL's No. 1 offense last year but struggled mightily on Sunday night, resulting in a 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The offensive performance was concerning even before Prescott fractured his thumb. The fact that he'll be sidelined for at least the next month is downright frightening for this team.
NFL Offensive Player Rankings, Week 1: Aaron Rodgers sits at No. 1
Entering the 2022 NFL season, former No. 1 overall pick and NFL Network analyst David Carr takes a look at all offensive players and ranks his top 15. For the first quarter of the season, the rankings are based on a combination of: Player accomplishments from the 2021 season. Weekly performances, factoring in strength of opponent. Rankings will be solely judged on this season's efforts following Week 4.

Top 10 NFL cornerbacks in 2022: Jalen Ramsey not No. 1

NFL quarterback relocations: How will Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan and others fare on new teams?
The new league year has produced quite a reshuffling of rosters across the league. With that in mind, NFL Network analyst and 11-year NFL quarterback David Carr evaluates the recent relocations of seven signal-callers (presented in alphabetical order), examining how each QB will fare with his new team in 2022. Who will ball out? Whose production will fall?
