What was your first job as a journalist?
In the fourth grade, I was on our school’s morning show and had my own segment where I interviewed the teacher of the week.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Once upon a time...it was orange.
How is social media changing news?
Our desire for fast/accurate content is greater than ever and with that, the opportunities for journalists are growing every day.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
#breaktheinternet is incredible but #partylikeajournalist and #overheardinthenewsroom are still classic favorites.

Why did you become a journalist?
Every job you do has a lot of crap that comes with it. To me, the only jobs that have made all the crap worth it are the journalism ones.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was a photographer and copy editor on the yearbook staff. By college, pretty much the first thing I did was join school paper.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read everything. Put yourself out there. Meet as many people as possible. Ask for what you want, but do the work to deserve it. Be bold.
When's the best time to pitch you?
You can pitch me anytime, I love them. Definitely send an email Monday-Friday and I will absolutely see it.
