Introduction Peptide YY (PYY) is secreted by enteroendocrine L-cell populations enriched in the distal gut, in response to nutrient and microbiota-derived stimuli(1). Acting through neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptors, PYY regulates central appetite pathways(2), modulates gastrointestinal motility and nutrient absorption(3), and exerts growth factor–like trophic effects on epithelial and endocrine tissues.
