Diyar Kurda is an Award Wining journalist and Washington D.C. Bureau Chief for Rudaw Media Network, one of the leading media outlets in the Middle East. While still an undergraduate, Diyar joined Rudaw in 2015 as Editor of the International Desk. In July 2020, he became the head of the planning department at the same media outlet. Since, 2022, he serves as the Washington D.C. Bureau Chief of Rudaw and senior political correspondent.

The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the USA (AFPC-USA) every year is awarding the Excellence Professional Journalists in Washington D.C. that works for foreign audiences. In October 2024, the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the USA (AFPC-USA) has named Diyar Kurda, Rudaw’s Washington DC bureau chief and talented correspondent, as one of the best reporters in the United States for 2024 for professional excellence. Seven other journalists and reporters from CNBC, Fox News, New York Times, Axios, ZDF, Entravision, and Barron’s also are receiving awards at an ceremony in the US capital on December 4.
