Amazon continues its retreat from MMO games with an announcement today that they will be ending their support for Lost Ark in early 2027. Originally released in Korea in 2019 by Smilegate, Amazon Games brought Lost Ark to the west in 2022 as part of a push into games, and specifically MMORPGs, as also seen with New World. Now, with New World is dead, the publisher is retreating from Lost Ark, but it will avoid the fate of Amazon's homegrown MMORPG.

Until Dawn Creator Supermassive Games Laying Off Staff

The developer of narrative horror games Until Dawn, and the Dark Picture series Supermassive Games has announced today that they are having to lay off part of their team. In the announcement, they state that they have begun a "redundancy consultation process" that will result in upwards of 75 employees being laid off.

In the bloodshedding many were expecting following the July 4th weekend, and the change of Microsoft's fiscal new year, Xbox has revealed their many many changes coming to the studios and teams that make up their console business. Over 1600 employees were impacted yesterday, and another 1600 will be throughout the rest of 2026-2027's fiscal year for Microsoft.
