What was your first job as a journalist?
Radio announcer for the blind. I read the newspaper cover to cover and realized quickly that the written and spoken word are different.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. My first paying job was selling typewriters at Sears.
How is social media changing news?
Social media hasn't necessarily changed news. It has changed how people consume and react to the news. Fact checking is still crucial.

What's your favorite social network?
Toss up between Facebook and Instagram. Facebook gives the best reach with people that watch my stories. Instagram gives money shot punch.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No. I was in the AV Club, does that count? ;-)
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't go for the sensationalized stories. Please, Please, Please don't ask a crime victim "how do you feel?"
