2013 - McGill Medal for Journalistic Courage
The McGill Medal is named for Ralph McGill, the late editor and publisher of the Atlanta Constitution. McGill was regarded by many as "the conscience of the South" for his editorials challenging racial segregation in the 1950s and 1960s.

During the course of the residency in Bellagio, Italy, I produced a series of articles for a project called, "Why Some But Not Others" - looking at the diplomatic mechanism that either succeed or fail in freeing Iranians with multiple citizenships from Iranian prisons.
