The Impact of Sanctions on the Lifecycle of an Arbitration (Against the Backdrop of East-West Sanctions)
Abstract Recent geopolitical developments, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, have revitalised discussions on economic sanctions and their interplay with international arbitration. Sanctions regimes, although not unprecedented, have rapidly expanded, raising unique challenges at every stage of the arbitration process. This article examines how sanctions affect jurisdiction, the procedural conduct of arbitrations, and the enforcement of arbitral awards.
Clean Investment Monitor: Q4 2024 Update
In the final quarter of 2024, clean energy and transportation investment in the United States totaled $70 billion, reflecting a slight 1% decline from the previous quarter but a 6% increase from the same period in 2023. Total clean investment in 2024 reached $272 billion, a 16% increase above 2023. While this broadly signals continued growth, it also reflects a deceleration from the previous streak of quarter-on-quarter increases.
Bacteria invade the brain following intracortical microelectrode implantation, inducing gut-brain axis disruption and contributing to reduced microelectrode performance | Nature Communications
Abstract Brain-machine interface performance can be affected by neuroinflammatory responses due to blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage following intracortical microelectrode implantation. Recent findings suggest that certain gut bacterial constituents might enter the brain through damaged BBB. Therefore, we hypothesized that damage to the BBB caused by microelectrode implantation could facilitate microbiome entry into the brain.
Importance of copy number variants in childhood apraxia of speech and other speech sound disorders - Communications Biology
Abstract Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a severe and rare form of speech sound disorder (SSD). CAS is typically sporadic, but may segregate in families with broader speech and language deficits. We hypothesize that genetic changes may be involved in the etiology of CAS. We conduct whole-genome sequencing in 27 families with CAS, 101 individuals in all. We identify 17 genomic regions including 19 unique copy number variants (CNVs).
Acoustic lattice instabilities at the magnetostructural transition in ${\mathrm{Fe}}_{1.057(7)}\mathrm{Te}$
Fe1.057(7)Te undergoes a first-order structural transition from a high temperature tetragonal phase to a low temperature monoclinic phase at TS∼70K, breaking the fourfold C4 high temperature lattice symmetry. At the same temperature, time reversal symmetry is broken with magnetic iron ions ordering in a commensurate (with the nuclear lattice) bicollinear arrangement.
Myeloid-CITED2 Deficiency Exacerbates Diet-Induced Obesity and Pro-Inflammatory Macrophage Response
1. Introduction Macrophages are major phagocytic cells of the innate immune system that play a critical role in maintaining tissue homeostasis and protecting the host from the deleterious effects of infections and injuries [1]. Macrophages sense the surrounding environment by an array of cell surface receptors, including pattern recognition receptors, scavenger receptors, Siglecs (sialic-acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectins), and integrins.
Neutron scattering sum rules, symmetric exchanges, and helicoidal magnetism in ${\mathrm{MnSb}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{6}$
Abstract MnSb2O6 is based on the noncentrosymmetric P321 space group with magnetic Mn2+ (S=5/2, L≈0) spins ordering below TN=12K in a cycloidal structure. The spin rotation plane was found to be tilted away from the c axis [Kinoshita et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 047201 (2016)] resulting as a helicoidal ground state, which we refer as the tilted structure. In our previous diffraction study [Chan et al., Phys. Rev.
Sex-Based Differences in Outpatient Specialist Referral Patterns of Heart Failure Patients: A Scoping Review
Background Heart failure (HF) is a highly prevalent disease, causing significant morbidity and mortality in both men and women. Current guidelines recommend that patients diagnosed with HF during hospitalization be referred to an outpatient HF clinic within two weeks of discharge. We conducted a scoping review to identify potential sex differences in the referral of these patients to ambulatory HF clinics.

Highlights •Nursing is theorised as a component of person-centred care. •We conducted a discourse analysis to identify communicative patterns in nurse consultations at chemotherapy outpatient clinics. •The nurses focus to far too great an extent on biological markers and a non-person-centred approach in communication.

“To screen or not to screen”: Comparing the health and economic benefits of early peanut introduction strategies in five countries
Early peanut introduction (EPI) in the first year of life is associated with reduced risk of developing peanut allergy in children with either severe eczema and/or egg allergy. However, EPI recommendations differ among countries with formal guidelines.

Since 2010, the Champlain BASE eConsult service has provided secure, web-based consultations between PCPs and specialists. Previous work by our group identified interpretation of cardiac testing as the most common reason for PCPs to request a Cardiology eConsult.
A UK ANALYSIS OF THE DIFFERENTIAL DRUG COSTS PER 1% POINT DECREASE IN HBA1C AMONG ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC AGENTS THAT INHIBIT SGLT2
In the seminal UK Prospective Diabetes Study, a 1% reduction in HbA1c was associated with important risk reductions in any diabetes-related end point, diabetes-related deaths, myocardial infarction, and microvascular complications. Here, we examine the drug cost of canagliflozin 100 and 300mg, dapagliflozin 10mg, and empagliflozin 10 and 25mg per a 1% reduction in HbA1c.
TIME UNTIL INSULIN INITIATION FOR CANAGLIFLOZIN VERSUS DAPAGLIFLOZIN AND EMPAGLIFLOZIN IN DUAL AND TRIPLE THERAPY FOR TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM - Value in Health
Insulin therapy is associated with weight gain and hypoglycemia, and patients and physicians generally prefer to postpone insulin use. SGLT2 inhibitors provide substantial and sustained HbA1c lowering, weight loss, and blood pressure control in patients with T2DM, and are generally well tolerated. Indirect comparisons of clinical trial data suggest that these agents have differential efficacy.
