10 Struggles of Building and Selling Software to Restaurants (And How to Survive Them)
E. Lee · Follow 6 min read · -- Being a product manager in restaurant tech isn’t glamours like working at a big B2C tech company like Google or Meta. Most restaurants operate on very thin margins, and between delivery aggregators, credit card processors, and a dozen other middlemen taking their cut, it’s easy to be viewed as just another villain trying to carve out a piece of an already small pie.
To ChatGPT: “be me, EJ, product lead at xyz kiosks”
just for humor… E. Lee · Follow 4 min read · -- Some days at work are great and some are… not so great. Some days are so bad they make you stare at the ceiling and reconsider every life choice that led you here. Lately, I’ve been in the latter camp, deep in the trenches of chaotic, incessant Slack pings, inexplicable kiosk malfunctions, and questions from stakeholders that make me question reality itself.
EVALUATING LEFT CAROTID ARTERY PRESSURE DURING CIRCULATORY ARREST WITH UNILATERAL ANTEGRADE CEREBRAL PERFUSION
Surgical intervention for aortic arch disease requires a period of circulatory arrest with cerebral perfusion to reduce the risk of neurological sequelae. Right-sided unilateral antegrade cerebral perfusion (ACP) is a common method given its shorter implementation time and avoidance of additional manipulation arch vessel manipulation. It has been shown to have equal effectiveness and outcomes compared with bilateral ACP.

Using opportunistic screening with abdominal CT to identify osteoporosis and osteopenia in patients with diabetes
Abstract Summary Opportunistic osteoporosis screening involves measuring the attenuation of L1 vertebrae on abdominal computed tomography (CT), which correlates with DXA T-score. We found that this approach is useful for detecting low bone mass in patients with diabetes and propose L1 attenuation ≤ 135 Hounsfield units (HU) as a threshold for which DXA should be strongly considered.
Long-distance optical pulling of nanoparticle in a low index cavity using a single plane wave
INTRODUCTION A nanoparticle (NP) facing a light trades momentum with the incoming photons and can thus get pushed to move in the light propagation direction. In some rare cases, optical pulling can be realized but is only made possible when the momentum of the incident photon along the propagation axis is smaller than the momentum of the scattered photons projected to the propagation axis (1–3).

Ditch the Smartphone and Smell the Roses This Valentine’s Day
Welcome to JSTOR Daily’s Detox Series, in which we consider how we can limit our exposure to substances scientists deem unsafe. So far we’ve covered fire retardants in milk, plastic in our water and chemicals in our plastic. Today we look at a less apparent toxicant—our smartphones. One definition of addiction defines it as “continued use, despite adverse consequences.” So the metaphor of addiction seems apt when it comes to smartphones.
