ネタバレ！ クリックして本文を読む 『廃用身』は、超高齢化社会が抱える介護・医療の深刻な問題を、「廃用身」という極端な医療を通して描いた作品だった。 作中で漆原医師が提唱する「廃用身の切断医療」は、動かない四肢を切断することで患者本人の身体的・精神的負担を軽減し、さらに家族の介護負担や医療費・介護費も抑えようとする、極めて合理的な発想である。 一見すると非人道的に思える。しかし考えてみると、医療では肥満治療や病的な脂肪切除など、「身体の一部を取り除くことで生活の質を向上させる治療」はすでに社会に受け入れられている。では、なぜ廃用身の切断には強い拒絶感を抱くのだろうか。 もちろん、手足を失うことへの恐怖は大きい。しかし私は、それだけでは説明できないようにも感じた。 人は、人型ロボットが乱暴に扱われる映像を見ると「かわいそう」と感じる一方、お掃除ロボットが蹴られても同じ感情はあまり抱かない。そこには、「人の形をしているものは、人として扱うべきだ」という無意識の感覚が存在しているように思う。...
