1 Introduction Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia worldwide, affecting approximately 4% of adults and over 5 million people globally [1-3]. This condition, characterized by rapid and irregular atrial activation, is associated with a significantly increased risk of thromboembolic events, heart failure, and reduced quality of life while also posing a substantial burden on healthcare systems [3, 4].

Comprehensive echocardiographic and biomarker assessment of patients with diabetic ketoacidosis - Cardiovascular Diabetology

We initially screened a total of 40 patients. Twenty were excluded from the study. Figure 1 shows the study flow and reasons for exclusion. The mean age was 33 ± 13.6 years; 70% were female, and 70% had type 1 DM. Among the DKA episodes, 75% were severe, and the rest were moderate. The mean pH was 7 ± 0.2, with a HCO3− of 3.7 (3–10.3) mmol/L, an AG of 27.4 ± 5.5 and a DG of 0.8 ± 0.3. Basal glucose was 455.5 (393–518) mg/dl.
