Former Burro makes run to NCAA D2 Elite Eight

After graduating from Burroughs High, former Burros basketball player Terence Haywood accepted an offer to play for the Sonoma State University men’s basketball program. Haywood was a Seawolf as a freshman and sophomore, and then as a junior he transferred and suited up for California State University, East Bay. In his first season with the Pioneers, Haywood played in 34 games, averaging 14 minutes a game, 5.5 points a game, 1.2 assists a game, and 3.1 rebounds a game.

Senior vaulter competes at Masters Meet

After a fourth-place finish in the Division 3 CIF-SS boys’ pole vault, Trevin Hess qualified for the CIF-SS Masters Meet on Saturday, May 23, at Moorpark High. Hess competed against 15 of the best pole vaulters in the state. The Burroughs senior vaulter made a jump of 13-6 to finish in a three-way tie for 13th place with Dalton Shupe of San Marcos and Zion Fishkind of Monrovia. kAmw625 4@249 %@?J |2CE:? Steve Lormand named MRL Player of the Year, five Burros selected to First Team

After playing in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoff – a first for the program – but falling to Redondo Union by a run, the Burroughs baseball team finished with a 22-5 overall record and a 12-3 Mojave River League record to earn its first MRL championship in the program’s history. After a successful season, Burroughs had five players selected to the MRL All-League First Team and had the MRL Player of the Year.
