Eli Brand joined the ABC News 4 team in March 2020 and couldn’t be happier to be serving the Lowcountry.

He was born in Shelby, North Carolina, and graduated in 2019 from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism

While at USC, Eli produced, reported and anchored for Carolina News & Reporter, which was recently ranked the No. 1 student newscast in the nation.

When he’s not telling stories, Eli enjoys exploring the community and cheering on the Gamecocks.

Local leaders in towns set to vote on the I-77 South Express Lanes project are requesting financial transparency from state officials regarding potential penalties. Under North Carolina state budget rules, any city or town that votes to cancel the toll lane project must reimburse the North Carolina Department of Transportation for funds already spent on development. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Regional Transportation Planning Organization is scheduled to vote on the project on Sept. 23.

Dilworth business owner helps police identify suspect in random assault on woman

A Dilworth business owner said he shared surveillance footage to help Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identify a suspect accused of randomly attacking a woman along East Boulevard in Dilworth. “It's very disturbing,” said Paper Skyscraper owner Bill Godwin. Channel 9's Miana Massey spoke with Godwin, who turned over surveillance video to help track down a suspect accused of randomly attacking a woman down the block from his store.
