Anoka County law enforcement agencies are considering shortening the retention period for automated license plate reader data from 30 days to seven, Sheriff Brad Wise told the Andover City Council Aug. 18. The discussion came during Wise’s presentation on the county’s pilot program involving Flock Safety automated license plate reader, or ALPR, cameras and drone-assisted response. Council Member Scott Schue said the retention period could be shortened as early as Jan. 1.

St Francis divided on whether to contribute to Alexandra House

A St. Paul man was charged Aug. 13 with eight theft counts alleging he helped falsify records to obtain Medicaid reimbursements through businesses investigators linked to an alleged sex-trafficking operation. The complaint identifies former Anoka County assistant attorney Andrea Leigh Sampson and several others as alleged participants in the operation. Salman Ahmed Elmi faces three counts of aiding and abetting theft by swindle and five counts of aiding and abetting theft by false representation.
