As drought continues to spread and the summer months get more intense, cattle producers should be mindful about setting their herd up for success. While North Dakota started out 2026 with plenty of moisture, a dry spring has increased drought and abnormally dry conditions there, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Surrounding states have dealt with more severe drought conditions for months, and Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota all have pockets of extreme drought.

North Dakota State University unveils its new swine research facility

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State University is beefing up their swine program, by adding a new state of the art swine facility to their existing swine research facility. The NDSU Foundation spent four years leading a fundraising campaign to support the new facility, which will house 600 hogs and have a 50 seat classroom. The facility showcases the university’s dedication to strengthening its livestock programs.
