Second Possumtown Book Fest welcomes 19 authors to Columbus

COLUMBUS — Book lovers in Northeast Mississippi will have the opportunity to meet authors representing genres spanning nonfiction, poetry, romance and more on Aug. 16 at the second Possumtown Book Fest. The festival will feature eight literary panels throughout the day, starting at 9:15 a.m., as well as a children’s program and local author showcase running concurrently during the morning. Marshall Ramsey will be the featured children’s book author.

When author Minrose Gwin traces her connections to Columbus and Mississippi University for Women, the long blue line goes back four generations — all the way to her great-grandmother, one of its earliest graduates. Gwin, a Tupelo native who attended MUW herself, recently returned to campus as a featured speaker at the Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium last month to present “Beautiful Dreamers,” her fourth novel and ninth book.
