By now, you will likely have heard about - if not experienced - the global anti-LGBTQ+ backlash. So far this year, Senegal and Nigeria have enacted laws criminalising same-sex relations or toughening existing laws, adding to the growing list of countries that have criminalised same-sex relations over the past few years. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan saw in 2026 by joining the list of nations banning the “propaganda” of LGBTQ+ rights.

Greetings from the heart of Europe, where the extreme heat has already led to the cancellation or postponement of several Pride events across Germany as well as in Paris. Here in Berlin we’re expected to hit 40-41 degrees Celsius tomorrow. And though I bring you some big pieces of news, I can’t help but worry about the future of our planet. Yet here we go. Spain’s lower chamber has voted in favour of banning so-called “conversion therapies” – again.
