Two years ago, Tim McLaughlin had a vision. On Saturday, Sept. 20, that vision became a reality with the Grand Opening ceremony for the North Manchester pickleball ball courts at Warvel Park. “ It’s been a long time coming for sure,” said Tim McLaughlin, who spearheaded the project.

Coach Dick Miller’s legacy honored with pavilion

If you knew Dick Miller, you knew his love of running. If you only heard of Dick Miller, you know his love of running. On Saturday, Aug. 23, the North Manchester running community honored the late coach and teacher as it dedicated a new pavilion for the cross country and track and field teams in Miller’s name. Miller’s wife, Mary, and their three children, City, Marla, and Mike, were in attendance for the special honor.

Local author’s book touts musician’s legacy

A chance pop-in to a music store changed Jim Riley’s life. Riley, of North Manchester, stopped by Fred Myers Piano in Fort Wayne to check things out. “My mother was a highly proficient piano player so I always had some curiosity,” he said. What Riley found was a new friend. “I walked in and a guy named Henry Goulet was finishing up a lesson at 8 p.m. when they close, but I got out of there at 10:30 p.m.” Riley said.
