Tumor-informed molecular residual disease in resected mucosal and cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck
Abstract Patients with resected mucosal (HNSCC) or cutaneous (cSCC) squamous carcinomas of the head and neck undergo adjuvant therapy based on clinicopathologic prognosticators. Most patients are overtreated or undertreated, with substantial morbidity from locoregional recurrences and locoregional therapies. It is unknown whether postoperative ctDNA molecular residual disease (MRD) testing could improve patient selection.
The AI transformation manifesto
Twelve themes separate companies that are truly rewired for AI from their peers. The companies that are truly innovating with AI are doing something very different from their peers: They are conceptualizing and developing AI capabilities that reshape their products, services, core business processes, and organizational systems.

Author Talks: Rewiring to outcompete with AI
In the second edition of Rewired, McKinsey authors explore how leading companies move faster and what changes they make to turn AI into value. In this edition of Author Talks, McKinsey Global Publishing’s Barr Seitz speaks with McKinsey Senior Partners Kate Smaje and Robert Levin, and Eric Lamarre, McKinsey alumnus and emeritus adviser, about the second edition of Rewired (Rewired: How Leading Companies Win with Technology and AI, Wiley, April 2026).
Upskilling tech-savvy domain leaders for AI transformation
The real competitive advantage with AI comes from having business leaders who can bridge business problems with the possibilities technology offers. One of the most critical roadblocks to achieving at‑scale impact with digital and AI (D&AI) transformations is having a sufficient bench of domain leaders.

Rewiring for the era of gen AI
Do the math on generative AI (gen AI), and the numbers can seem heady. But according to recent research, only a small percentage of companies are beginning to deliver meaningfully on its promise—and many have succumbed to “death by a thousand pilots,” in the words of Rodney Zemmel, global leader of McKinsey Digital.
Rewiring for the era of gen AI
It’s easy to fall in love with gen AI—but recent research suggests that realizing its value is harder than the hype. Rewired offers a playbook that can help. Preoperative Hypoalbuminemia Predicts 30‐day Complications in Head and Neck Microvascular Surgery
INTRODUCTION Preoperative hypoalbuminemia has been shown to be an independent risk factor for postoperative morbidity and mortality across a wide range of surgical specialties.1 Despite its well-established role in predicting adverse outcomes, the impact of hypoalbuminemia in the context of head and neck microvascular free flap reconstruction remains underexplored.
Choose the right transformation ‘bite size’
Successful transformations need to change something meaningful in the business, but not try to do too much. Pick battles big enough to matter and small enough to win. Many companies set their digital and AI transformations up to struggle from the start by getting the scope of the change wrong. Some companies start too small, believing an incremental approach will lower risk. This is a mistake.
MLOps so AI can scale
Most of the failures in ML development come not from developing poor models but from poor productization practices. Building advanced AI is like launching a rocket. The first challenge is to maximize acceleration, but once it starts picking up speed, you also need to focus on steering.
Un reinicio de la IA generativa: Reconfiguración para convertir el potencial en valor en 2024
Es posible que los beneficios de la IA generativa solo lleguen cuando las empresas realicen una cirugía organizacional más profunda de su negocio. McKinsey & Company: Unpacking "Digital Relativity" for the CPG Industry
Most CPG companies have been on a digital and AI journey for the past few years. However, with the rapid acceleration of (Gen) AI, machine learning at-scale and quantum computing, many CPG executives are experiencing what might be called “digital relativity” — their businesses are moving faster than before, but the marketplace is moving even faster.
The Value of Digital Transformation
“Show me the money!” Cuba Gooding Jr., playing Rod Tidwell, made those words a cultural touchstone in the movie Jerry McGuire. He was not just voicing his concerns about committing to a sports agent, played by Tom Cruise in this case; he was also questioning Cruise’s commitment. Business leaders, shareholders, and board members have increasingly been saying the same thing — albeit using different words — when it comes to their company’s digital and AI transformations.
Rewired for value: Digital and AI transformations that work
Our analysis of data from the banking sector provides definitive proof on how digital and AI transformations create bottom-line value. “I’m seeing digital everywhere in my company except the bottom line.” It’s not unusual to hear a version of that grouse in many C-suites, and the data bears it out. Large companies globally have captured, on average, only 31 percent of expected revenue lift and 25 percent of expected cost savings from their digital and AI transformations.

Rewired to use AI’s superpower
Harnessing the full value potential of ‘superpower’ technology like AI requires developers with the skills to use it well. An executive recently described the impact of artificial intelligence as being like “giving everyone a superpower.” That is an exciting vision, suggesting AI as the equivalent of assistants who eliminate dull tasks, provide tailored support, and enhance people’s capabilities. But you can’t just give everyone a superpower and expect them to be able to use it.

Digital transformations: The five talent factors that matter most

We have frequently seen these transformations stumble along the way, and leaders often have difficulty sustaining any improvements over time. Across the transformation journey, talent and technology are critical to success, from planning and hiring to managing and developing.

The digital-value guardian: CEOs and digital transformations
An inconvenient truth for businesses undertaking digital transformations is that without focused and active CEO commitment, there is almost no chance of success. That’s because a digital transformation is a business-model reinvention that requires different functions across the organization to work together in new ways, and can happen only through large-scale investments in building an entirely new set of capabilities. The only person who can make that level of sustained change happen is the CEO.
