Rex Russell of Perrysburg has always looked forward to the summer season, he said. He loves the warm weather, painting in the outdoors, and all the summer festivals, the Crosby Festival of the Arts being one of them. “When the rain comes, if the rains do come, they clear up,” Russell said. “It’s just that essence of summer that I just love.” But for a month or two, it seemed like there would be a gap in his plans since the Crosby art festival moved to Elmore, Ohio.

Earned income levy for Maumee Schools to be on November ballot

Maumee school leaders said they can no longer depend on state funding to meet costs, and will go to voters for help. “The funding that we were promised from the state legislature has not come,” said Allison Fiscus, president of the Maumee Board of Education. Schools across Ohio were promised state aid from the Fair School Funding Plan in 2021 but it’snot heavily enforced, Ms. Fiscus said.

Humane Ohio celebrates 20 years of service

Animal lovers were all smiles and laughs as they celebrated the legacy of Humane Ohio in Toledo on Saturday. Jessica O’Loughlin, who lives in La Salle, Mich., played Plinko, jumped in bouncy houses, and toured Humane Ohio’s facility during the organization’s Birthday Bash, a celebration of its 20th anniversary. Laura Simmons-Wark, executive director of Humane Ohio, said having a community without Humane Ohio and other clinics like it would be a huge problem.
