It can feel like a milestone to hit five years in business in the neighborhood, let alone 45. Which is exactly the landmark anniversary that family-owned bar Turkey’s Nest Tavern celebrated over Memorial Day Weekend. Opened in the early 1980s, The Nest has been holding down the fort at 94 Bedford Avenue on the corner across from McCarren Park.

No matter what you get into over the next week, there’s definitely no excuse to be bored! Bee Hives, Lip Balms, and Honey Tasting for Teens @ Greenpoint Library, 2 p.m.: Bees have had some bad PR, but there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the infamous insect. Teens 13-18 can learn from bee experts and enthusiasts from Bee U NYC during a live hive demonstration, honey tasting, and lip balm-making workshop. There will be live bees present. Free, no registration needed.

Get an up-close-and-personal look at all the amazing art being created in our neighborhood this weekend during Greenpoint Open Studios. From 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, over 250 studios will be open to the public during this completely free event. Guests are free to peruse the works, buy something for their own collection, chat with local makers, and mingle with community members and tourists alike.
