August 27-28, 2026 Deep Partial Lunar Eclipse
Released Friday, August 21, 2026 The Moon moves right to left through Earth's penumbra and umbra shadows. At various times, a copy of the Moon is left behind along with its associated UTC time, and this forms a lunar eclipse diagram showing different stages of the eclipse.
Was steckt hinter dem Strategiewechsel?

Total Lunar Eclipse! Here's When To See The "Blood Moon" In Missouri
The Moon will pass into Earth’s shadow and appear to turn red early in the morning on March 14, central time. Here’s what you need to know about the total lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align so that the Moon passes into Earth’s shadow. In a total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, called the umbra. When the Moon is within the umbra, it appears red-orange.
Blood Moon Rising: Don’t Miss the Stunning Total Lunar Eclipse
As the Moon slips into Earth’s shadow, it will glow an eerie red, a phenomenon caused by scattered sunlight filtering through the atmosphere. The total lunar eclipse, visible in the Western Hemisphere, offers a breathtaking sight that can be enjoyed with the naked eye. Credit: NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio On the night of March 13 or early March 14, the Moon will transform into a stunning red orb as it moves into Earth’s shadow during a total lunar eclipse.

NASA develops process to create very accurate eclipse maps
NASA develops process to create very accurate eclipse maps by Ernie Wright and Susannah Darling for GSFC News Greenbelt MD (SPX) Sep 20, 2024 New NASA research reveals a process to generate extremely accurate eclipse maps, which plot the predicted path of the Moon's shadow as it crosses the face of Earth. Traditionally, eclipse calculations assume that all observers are at sea level on Earth and that the Moon is a smooth sphere that is perfectly symmetrical around its center of mass.

Traditionally, eclipse calculations assume that all observers are at sea level on Earth and that the moon is a smooth sphere that is perfectly symmetrical around its center of mass. As such, these calculations do not take into account different elevations on Earth or the moon's cratered, uneven surface.

Here’s how you can safely view the annular solar eclipse in Texas this weekend
Now, how are you going to watch it? Since you’re at the observatory are you going to be looking through that great big telescope? Are you going to go outside? At McDonald Observatory, it will not be the big telescopes that are pointing at the sun. Those are nighttime telescopes, and they’re not ready for the kind of light the sun gives off. We are going to have some telescopes pointing at the sun, and they’ll be safe to look through because they will have proper solar filters.
Here’s where you can see both upcoming solar eclipses in Texas
Texas will experience a celestial double feature soon, with not one but two solar eclipses visible within the next six months. First up is the “ring of fire” annular solar eclipse on Oct. 14, followed by a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. There’s usually about 400 years between total solar eclipses in a given location, and thousands of years between two solar eclipses in a row. So, what’s the best way to watch this once-in-a-lifetime event?
Super Blue Moon Is Coming: What You Need To Know
A trifecta of labels is being applied to the Moon of August 30-31, 2023. It’s a full moon, a supermoon, and finally a blue moon. You may hear it referred to as a super blue moon as a result. It sounds exciting, but what does that really mean? We’ve got you covered. What is a supermoon? The Moon travels around our planet in an elliptical orbit, or an elongated circle, with Earth closer to one side of the ellipse.

What You Need to Know About the Lunar Eclipse – Moon: NASA Science
What’s special about November’s lunar eclipse? The last total lunar eclipse for three years will occur on November 8, 2022, with the next occurring on March 14, 2025 — though we will continue to see partial and penumbral lunar eclipses during that time. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align so that the Moon passes into Earth’s shadow. In a total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, called the umbra.

The 2017 Solar Eclipse Across America
On August 21st, the sky will darken, the temperature will drop and all fifty United States will be able to see the Moon pass—at least partially—in front of the Sun. It’s a solar eclipse!A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow on Earth. Sometimes the Moon only covers up part of the Sun. That is called a partial solar eclipse. When the Moon covers up the Sun completely, it’s called a total solar eclipse.
