Yes, it’s the final Grand Tour of the year, the Vuelta a España, which starts in time-honoured fashion with an individual time-trial tomorrow in… er, Monaco. And far be it for us to deliver spoilers via our equally time-honoured Grand Tour predictions, but the distinctly un-Spanish location for the Gran Salida seems far less predictable at this point than the likely overall winner of the race in three Sundays’ time in Granada. But what about the other jerseys?

While Tadej Pogačar soaks up all the GC talk ahead of the Vuelta a España, which starts on Saturday in Monaco, the sprinting field is taking shape. To be honest, said sprinting field at this Vuelta isn’t too deep. I guess the majority of the WorldTour’s fast men saw the parcours and quickly realised that only around four stages would realistically end in a bunch gallop. That said, a green jersey is still up for grabs.

With the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France crossed off our list, one Grand Tour remains in 2026: the Vuelta a España. The Spanish Grand Tour will start outside of Spain this year, with an opening time-trial taking place in Monaco on Saturday before the race makes its way west through France towards its home nation over the next few days.
