Op-Ed: Rep. Gabe Evans: Protecting ratepayers while powering America’s future
America is entering a new era of unprecedented energy demand. The AI boom is transforming our economy, and massive data centers are being built across the nation to power this new technology. These facilities require extraordinary amounts of electricity and with that demand comes the need for more power generation, new transmission lines, and other costly upgrades to our current electric grid. The question plaguing communities across America is simple: Who will pay for it?

Canada's wildfire smoke is choking America — Congress must clear the air
This week, millions of Americans woke up to hazy skies and scratchy throats under air quality alerts, not because of anything happening in their own local communities or states, but because smoke from the hundreds of wildfires burning in Canada drifted across the border. Across the Atlantic seaboard to the Midwest, Americans were told to stay indoors. Seniors and people with respiratory conditions faced increased health risks.

Students with food allergies navigate challenges at Ole Miss - The Oxford Eagle
Students at the University of Mississippi with food allergies say something as routine as grabbing a meal between classes can come with added stress and uncertainty. For many, dining on campus is a quick and convenient part of daily life. But for those managing food allergies, the process requires extra caution, including reading ingredient labels, asking staff questions, and paying close attention to how food is prepared.

As commencement approaches, many seniors are taking time to reflect on the experiences, relationships and growth that have defined their four years in Oxford. For many, those years went by quickly but left a lifelong impact.
Colorado shows why we need permitting reform
Gabe Evans and Rep. Brett Guthrie, Washington Examiner Recently, members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce traveled to Colorado . What's happening in Denver and across the Front Range reflects the challenges we are facing nationwide: our communities are struggling to build infrastructure . From mining to advanced manufacturing , businesses that want to build in the U.S. need access to safe, affordable, and reliable energy. Right now, burdensome regulations are standing in the way.
Colorado shows why we need permitting reform
Permitting reform has been a top priority this Congress, and our recent visit clarified why it matters. During our time in Colorado District 8, we toured the state’s only oil refineries that produce gas, diesel, jet fuel, and other vital energy resources that keep our nation running.

Protect America, end Iran's export of terror
My oldest son was five months old –– and had just spent a month in the hospital –– when I deployed to a combat zone in the Middle East as part of the Global War on Terror. He was 18 months old when I returned home. I’ve seen the cost of war. I’ve buried my friends. The base in the Middle East where I spent several months was hit last week by an Iranian drone.

President Trump’s State of the Union is strong as he delivers safety to Colorado (Opinion)
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... By Gabe Evans Republicans in Congress, alongside President Donald Trump, are delivering on their mandate from the American people to make America safe again, and the results are impossible to ignore. As President Donald Trump reflects on his second term in office during the State of the Union, I couldn’t help but reflect on how Colorado communities are seeing firsthand that Republicans prioritize public safety.

(Guest opinion) Congressman Gabe Evans: It’s time to combat illegal vapes and e-cigarettes in Colorado communities
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Before serving in Congress, I spent 10 years as a cop in Arvada and another 12 years in the Army and the Army National Guard defending our nation. Like many in law enforcement and the military, I chose a career of public service with one goal in mind: keeping our communities safe.
(Guest Opinion) Gabe Evans and Ryan Gonzalez: A fork in the road - Fixing the immigration system the right way
In the Army, we had a saying: “You play the hand you’re dealt, not the one you wish you had.” That mindset applies directly to the immigration crisis facing America today. Right now, we’ve got more than 8 million illegal immigrants working in the U.S. Some of them are troublemakers — peddling fentanyl and tusi, committing other crimes, and undermining our public safety. For those criminals, there’s zero tolerance.

Opinion: Colorado needs a committed all-of-the-above approach to energy. The pieces are in place to be a model nationally.
We stood inside a buzzing wind turbine factory in late March, marveling at locally manufactured turbine components built in Brighton and bound for projects across the country. Our visit was part of an energy tour with The Western Way and The Conservative Energy Network and also took us to a natural gas production site in Greeley and a solar-powered agrivoltaics farm in LaSalle.

We flipped five seats to keep a GOP majority. Johnson helped make it possible
Over the past two years, pundits, pollsters, the media, and liberal politicians all predicted that House Republicans would lose the majority in 2024. They were proven wrong on Nov. 5, when the public gave President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans a mandate with unified control of government. As members-elect who flipped five seats and secured a Republican House, we are ready to deliver for the public.
Opinion: Prioritizing these 3 ways to fix our immigration system will help protect Coloradans
In a recent viral moment, the mayor of Denver, Mike Johnston, threatened to deploy local cops and thousands of Coloradans for a “Tiananmen Square moment” to stop the next administration’s strong immigration policies. As a Coloradan, former Denver-area cop, grandson of an immigrant family and the next congressman for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, I strongly support a secure border and strong immigration policies, including immediate deportation for criminals or freeloaders.
New housing policies will strain neighborhoods without reducing costs
By Gabe Evans The people of Colorado are facing an affordability crisis. Recent CNBC business rankings show a decline in our state’s economic health, particularly in the cost of housing and doing business. Colorado’s cost of living ranking has plummeted to 46th in the nation, earning a dismal ‘F’ grade. Essential expenses such as housing, healthcare and everyday goods are increasingly unaffordable.

Capt. Gabe Evans: Biden’s “lead from behind” strategy erodes trust and leadership around the globe
I was in the middle of a combat deployment to the Middle East in 2012 when our embassy in Benghazi was attacked and our ambassador was killed. That event had a terrible effect on U.S. standing and troop morale — if an ambassador was expendable, ordinary soldiers like myself could be sacrificed without hesitation. Projecting weakness and “leading from behind” has never been a good foreign policy strategy. Unfortunately, the current administration has doubled down on projecting weakness.
The Clear and Present Danger Under Joe Biden...and How to Fix It
On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants entered Israel, slaughtering over 1,400 and wounding more. One of the worst terrorist attacks in modern history, it is a wake-up call to growing global instability. From Iranian-backed terrorists in Gaza, to Russia’s ongoing “special military operation,” to Chinese expansionism, to North Korean saber-rattling, worldwide danger is spiking. The common facilitator for this rising aggression?
(Opinion) Gabe Evans: Potential gun laws won’t make schools safer
“Shots fired; shots fired!” As a law enforcement officer who spent over 10 years on the job in the Denver area on assignments ranging from patrol officer to watch commander, this was the radio call I most dreaded. Coupled with the 12 years I spent in the U.S. Army and Colorado Army National Guard, I’ve dedicated my adult life to defending the defenseless and protecting our community.

Meet the women risking their lives on Syria’s front line
We meet the women of the White Helmets, the Syrian rescue group on the frontline fighting to protect their people 20June 2017 In war, women are routinely positioned as victims of violence, used by the media to create horror, sympathy and spectacle – continually denied agency over their own experiences. Less in the mainstream, are the many ways in which they participate in conflict every day. Their experiences may be distinct but are no less vital.
Letter: Third parties deserve a debate seat
Jill Stein should have been able to debate at Washington University, as 76 percent of Americans wanted her to participate. Only 9 percent of Americans voted for Clinton or Trump in the primaries, which means the Commission on Presidential Debates is doing a disservice to the country. Pretending only two choices exist is depriving millions of people the crucial information they need and is rendering this country less democratic.
