Recent husky dump leads community to raise awareness

Valley residents are trying to convince local and state officials to enact tougher penalties on dog dumping after finding several huskies abandoned on Oct. 14. Mikki Anselmo of Northumberland and Missy Hunsberger discovered the dogs at the same time. They quickly decided to rescue the dogs which they believe were clearly dumped by someone — abandoned and left to roam like wild animals. "We went there without a game plan and hoped to figure something out when they got there," Mikki Anselmo said.
