SAN RAMON - The downtown district of San Ramon is preparing for the openings of new merchants as the mixed-use Bishop Ranch neighborhood attracts more stores and restaurants. Turkish restaurant Meyhouse, Lululemon, Rico Rico Taco and Lil Sweet Treat are the primary new merchants, along with an expanded Escapology space, according to Sunset Development, the real estate firm that created Bishop Ranch and continues to guide its transformation into a new downtown for San Ramon.

SANTA CLARA — Several tech firms disclosed plans to chop hundreds of jobs in the Bay Area in fresh disclosures that show the pace of layoffs this year is running ahead of last year’s totals. ServiceNow, Salesforce, Ubisoft, Quizlet, and Verily Health revealed plans to slash a combined 370 jobs, affecting workers in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and San Bruno. The layoffs are permanent, according to documents on file with the state Employment Development Department.
