2024 - Best Beer and Food Writing
The 10th annual North American Guild of Beer Writers (NAGBW) awards celebrated the best in beer media. Last year, the competition consisted of 269 works from 96 authors, writers, journalists, historians, podcasters, professors, and other creators. Roughly 50 judges selected the top works across 15 categories. These judges collectively have more than 900 years of experience in journalism, media, academia, brewing, and related fields. Judges could award first, second, and third-place awards, as well as an honorable mention.
Diversity in Beer Writing Grant
2024 - Diversity in Beer Writing
One of five journalists chosen for the 2024 Diversity in Beer Writing Grant. Now in its seventh year, the grant supports stories that showcase diversity and inclusion—in all its forms and challenges—within beer. The Grant receives support from CraftBeer.com, a website published by the Brewers Association; and Allagash Brewing Company. After receiving the greatest number of applications yet, the grant will fund the work of the following journalists. These pieces will be published at craftbeer.com. What would it be like to have top surgery as a brewery employee? My article chronicled the fears, challenges, emotions, and hurdles that workers experience while recovering from gender-affirming surgery while working a physically demanding job in the beer industry.
Best Beer and Travel Writing
2018 - Best Beer and Travel Writing
The NAGBW Awards honor the best beer and brewing industry coverage in 13 categories, ranging from newspaper and magazine stories to podcasts. Winners are eligible for cash prizes and a certificate. With its annual writing competition, the Guild aims to broaden the conversation about beer and brewing, raise the standards of writing, and celebrate all the good work that's taken place in the past year.

2019 - Diversity and Inclusion Event Grant
One of six recipients chosen in the inaugural class of diversity and inclusion event grant for the creation and execution of the festival, Beers With(out) Beards. A total of $20,000 was awarded to all recipients. Beers With(out) Beards is the largest weeklong celebration of women in craft beer in the country. The series of events aims to empower the role of all women in craft beer through educational workshops, beer dinners, networking nights, and more. Everything culminates in one large tasting festival featuring the top women-led breweries in the country. The Brewers Association (BA) is proud to fund event grants in support of local and regional events that intentionally promote and foster a more diverse and inclusive craft beer community. Funding priorities include events that increase access and awareness of craft beer to new demographics while cultivating an inclusive environment, however all events will be considered for funding by the BA Diversity Committee.
