D. Knight’s Kids With Ambition: Deluxe Edition album is a winner

I screwed up badly. I should’ve listened to and championed D. Knight's masterpiece of an album a year ago. This review is for The deluxe version of Kids With Ambition…the original LP dropped in 2025. Kids With Ambition: Deluxe Editionis a fantastic album made by a true talent. Well, two true talents. Producer Ash Mathews was in his bag when he made beats for this album. His tracks are amazing. And Springfield, Ohio’s D. Knight slays every cut he raps on.

Where it's at: Beck's 'Odelay' at 30

Former folk singer Beck Hansen, known musically simply as Beck, hit the scene nationally in 1993 when his single “Loser” unexpectedly exploded on college and alternative radio stations. The song resulted in signing to Geffen, and it was under their umbrella that 1994's Mellow Gold was released. The album sold over one million units and made Beck a guy to watch. Was he the next big thing or the latest one-hit wonder? The wait for Beck’s next move was worth it.

Dayton meets Chicago with the Guardians Of The Groove album

Seven years after their last collab, Flight From Chicago, legendary Dayton rapper Picket Fence has once again teamed up with Chicago-based rap producer Cudda Mack for a new album, Guardians of the Groove. The LP is a great combo of Picket Fence’s left of center but distinct word flow and Cudda’s somewhat surreal but exceptional boom-bap. The two make a great team. The rap verses and the raw sounds complement each other very well.
