Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor–Based Downstaging Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Key Points Question Among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma initially that is beyond the Milan criteria who underwent liver transplant, is an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)–based multimodal pretransplant strategy, which is most often combined with locoregional and/or targeted therapies, associated with better posttransplant outcomes than therapy without ICIs?
EP300 inhibition alleviates acute-on-chronic liver failure through modulation of scar-associated macrophages
Abstract Acute-on-chronic liver failure is a severe syndrome with high short-term mortality, and current treatments are limited to liver transplantation and supportive care. Here we show that EP300 inhibition alleviates acute-on-chronic liver failure by targeting scar-associated macrophages, a subset that proliferates during disease progression and whose impaired antibacterial function is linked to poor prognosis.
AI vs. Human Streamers: How Digital Agents Shape Consumer Persuasion Processing in Live Streaming Commerce
Live streaming commerce is increasingly relying on high-intensity persuasive tactics, yet such tactics may activate consumers’ persuasion knowledge and trigger defensive processing. This research examines whether AI streamers mitigate this defense more effectively than human streamers.
Identification and quantification of intracellular N-acetylglucosamine modified glycoRNAs
Abstract GlycoRNAs are recently discovered glycoconjugates, their different components and distributions are urgently-to-study issues. Here, we design a general paradigm to study glycoRNA from multiple perspectives. Using the metabolic labelling technology and the designed fluorescent DNA probes, the N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) modified Y5 RNA is identified to be mainly in nucleus by fluorescence resonance energy transfer imaging.
Persistent IFN-I signaling inhibits mitochondrial oxidative metabolism in CD8 + T cells during HIV-1 infection under cART
|
Abstract Persistent type I interferon (IFN-I) signaling contributes to immune exhaustion and promotes HIV-1 persistence. While we and others have demonstrated that blocking IFN-I signaling in vivo restores anti-HIV-1 T-cell function and reduces viral reservoirs, the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Integrative genomic and spatial transcriptomic analysis elucidates the oligodendrocyte-mediated etiology of epileptic cortical thinning
Genomic SEM reveals focal epilepsy genetic liability drives limbic cortical thinning independent of acquired seizure damage. Cell-type-specific Mendelian randomization implicates oligodendrocyte dysfunction as the primary cellular mediator. DPYSL5 and SLC16A8 emerged as key protective genes within the oligodendrocyte lineage against cortical atrophy. Spatial transcriptomics and in vitro excitotoxicity models validate the selective vulnerability of these oligodendrocyte factors.
Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Azvudine for hospitalised patients with COVID-19 and hypertension: a multicenter retrospective cohort study | Scientific Reports
Abstract Hypertension is widely acknowledged as a major risk factor for disease severity and death in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Azvudine is recommended for COVID-19 patients in China. However, its clinical efficacy and safety for individuals with hypertension remain unclear. This nine-center retrospective cohort study included 32,864 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Henan Province, China, from December 2022 to January 2023.

Intraoperative allogeneic blood transfusion is not associated with postoperative acute kidney injury and in-hospital mortality in liver transplantation patients: a propensity score matching analysis
Abstract Background: Many studies have found a correlation between perioperative blood transfusion and postoperative complications and mortality in liver transplant (LT) patients. The purpose of our study is to identify independent risk factors for intraoperative blood transfusion in liver transplant patients and to explore the effect of intraoperative blood transfusion on postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) and in-hospital mortality in LT patients.

A spatial atlas of human gastrointestinal acute GVHD reveals epithelial and immune dynamics underlying disease pathophysiology
Editor’s summary Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a frequent complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Alloreactive T cells have been implicated in this disease but do not explain the range of clinical outcomes. Azulay et al. generated single-cell spatial maps of duodenal and colonic tissue from healthy individuals and patients with aGVHD based on multiplexed imaging of 40 proteins to characterize cellular dynamics.
Depletion of plasmacytoid dendritic cells rescues HIV-reactive stem-like CD8+ T cells during chronic HIV-1 infection
Editor’s summary Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are instrumental in initiating and potentiating antiviral immunity; however, their sustained activation during chronic viral infection, as in the case of HIV, can become pathogenic; rather than inhibiting viral infections, they instead sustain nonspecific inflammatory responses. Here, Li et al.

Visible Light‐Induced Ru‐Catalyzed Directing‐Group‐Assisted C−H Activation of Arenes
Ru-catalyzed directing group assisted C−H functionalization of arenes remains one of the powerful tools for site selective organic synthesis. Previous thermos versions normally require high temperature, rendering low functional group tolerance. With the emergence of the photoredox chemistry, visible light mediated mild Ru-catalyzed directed C−H activation, especially using [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 as catalyst, have recently been investigated.

Can the Frailty of Older Adults in China Change? Evidence from a Random-Intercept Latent Transition Profile Analysis
1. Introduction The aging of the population and the care of older adults pose major challenges to the global health care system. In 2020, the number of people aged 60 and over around the world surpassed the number of children under 5 years old for the first time in history [1]. China’s aging problem is also very severe. According to the seventh census, the population over 60 is currently 264,018,800, accounting for 18.7%, and the population over 65 is 13.5%.

The Relationship between Mobile Phone Dependence and Subjective Well-Being of College Students in China: A Moderated Mediation Model
1. Introduction 1.1. Background With the advancement of technology, mobile phones have developed rapidly. Mobile phones have become an indispensable communication tool in people’s lives [1,2]. Just as everything has two sides, mobile phones will not only facilitate people’s lives, but also cause many problems [3]. Studies have confirmed that excessive use of mobile phones can lead to problems, such as sleep disorders, depression, and social behavior disorders [4,5,6,7,8].

Strain Sensor-Inserted Microchannel for Gas Viscosity Measurement
Abstract : Quantifying the viscosity of a gas is of great importance in determining its properties and can even be used to identify what the gas is. While many techniques exist for measuring the viscosities of gases, it is still challenging to probe gases with a simple, robust setup that will be useful for practical applications. We introduce a facile approach to estimating gas viscosity using a strain gauge inserted in a straight microchannel with a height smaller than that of the gauge.

Relationship between Occupational Metal Exposure and Hypertension Risk Based on Conditional Logistic Regression Analysis
Abstract : Occupational exposure is a significant source of metal contact; previous studies have been limited regarding the effect of occupational metal exposure on the development of hypertension. This study was conducted to assess the levels of exposure of certain metals (chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and nickel (Ni)) in hypertensive and non-hypertensive workers and to assess the relationship between the risk of hypertension and metal exposure level.
