Matt Moore has worked for The Associated Press in the United States, Europe, Africa and the Middle East for nearly 14 years, serving as chief of bureau for Germany and Poland; news editor for the Nordic and Baltic nations; and covering contentious issues in Iraq, Tunisia, Israel and thereabouts. What was your first job as a journalist?

Writing about farming and business in Alabama. Learned a great deal from my colleagues and those I wrote about.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I learned to type on an IBM Selectric, wrote high school term papers on an Olivetti and still tap out notes to my family on my Remington.

How is social media changing news?

In ways no one could have predicted at the onset of it all.
