Coordinating structure-guided design and cis -regulatory optimization to engineer elite herbicide-tolerance alleles in crops
Abstract Genome editing facilitates the rapid creation of elite alleles, yet identifying editable sites for durable trait improvement without functional trade-offs remains challenging. Most current strategies modify a single genetic axis, limiting their effectiveness and stability. Here we developed a dual-layer allele engineering framework integrating structure-guided protein design with precise cis-regulatory tuning to overcome such constraints.

mTORC1 Activation Links Chronic Stress to Meso-Circuit Desynchronization and Accelerated Amyloid Pathology via Autophagic Dysfunction
1 Introduction Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive decline, extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition, and robust neuroinflammation secondary to glial activation [1, 2]. While depressive symptoms are frequently observed across the AD spectrum, clinical and epidemiological data regarding its exact role remain conflicting.
Across established non-invasive neuromodulation and emerging deep-targeting strategies: a comparative bibliometric analysis of TI, TMS, tDCS, and tFUS/TUS/LIFU
Abstract Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is expanding from conventional cortical modulation toward approaches capable of engaging deeper brain targets, but the literature structures of major modalities have rarely been compared within a common framework.
Mutually beneficial interactions between bacteria and Arabidopsis promote phosphorus nutrition and growth
The space surrounding the root includes the rhizoplane and rhizosphere that are occupied by different bacterial communities, suggesting that they are functionally distinct compartments.51 The rhizoplane refers to the root surface, which typically includes the root epidermis, root cap, and their mucilage, whereas the rhizosphere refers to soil (agar medium in this study) that closely surrounds the rhizoplane.52,53 In theory, diffusion of root exudates may fuel bacterial growth and P...
Endophytic Flavobacterium promotes root hair development and enhances drought tolerance via an ERF–CEP5 hormonal regulatory module
|
Abstract Root hairs (RHs) are cellular outgrowths of plant root epidermal cells that are important for water uptake, nutrient acquisition and rhizosphere dynamics. Key genes controlling RH development have been identified, but the regulatory mechanisms of RH growth during drought stress remain largely elusive. Here we show that the bacterial root endophyte Flavobacterium sp.

Sympathetic regulation of bone homeostasis and remodeling: molecular mechanisms, pathophysiological roles, and therapeutic implications
Abstract Bone metabolic disorders, such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis, are characterized by disrupted skeletal homeostasis and represent major challenges in musculoskeletal health. Bone remodeling has long been interpreted as a coordinated process between osteoblast-mediated bone formation and osteoclast-mediated bone resorption.
Evolution and precision trends of pancreaticojejunostomy in pancreaticoduodenectomy
Abstract Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant tumor associated with a generally poor prognosis. Pancreaticoduodenectomy remains the only potentially curative surgical treatment for pancreatic head and periampullary cancers. As the core step of Pancreaticoduodenectomy, pancreaticojejunostomy is directly associated with postoperative complications, particularly postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), which significantly impacts patient outcomes.

Development and validation of a prediction model for infection in chronic nonhealing wounds: a two-center retrospective study with external validation
Abstract Purpose: To develop and externally validate a pragmatic and interpretable model that predicts infection risk in chronic nonhealing wounds using routine electronic medical record data. Methods: We conducted a two-center retrospective study at two tertiary hospitals in China. The primary cohort (N = 500) was split 7:3 into training (N = 350) and testing (N = 150) sets with stratified allocation; an external cohort (N = 300) was used for validation.
Integrated multi-omics deciphers sepsis immune dysregulation: a dual-pathway targeted small-molecule therapy improves survival and ameliorates multi-organ dysfunction
Abstract Introduction: Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction syndrome with persistently high global mortality, driven by dysregulated host immune response. Existing single-target therapies fail to simultaneously address hyperinflammation and impaired tissue repair, leading to limited clinical efficacy and repeated translational failures. Methods: Integrated multi-omics datasets (scRNA-seq, miRNA-seq, blood/lung RNA-seq) delineated immune cell dynamics and dysregulated pathways in sepsis.
Engineered BCG selectively triggers trained immunity in tumor-associated macrophages and sensitizes glioblastoma to radiotherapy in mice
Abstract Radiotherapy plays a crucial role in antitumor immunity in glioblastoma, yet its efficacy is often limited, resulting in tumor recurrence. Here, we engineer a macrophage membrane-camouflaged Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) via bioorthogonal chemistry to enhance radiotherapy against glioblastoma.
Green Borrowed Size: A Crucial Mechanism to Promote Green Innovation in Peripheral Cities

Mechanical Strength: An Unrecognised Target in the Genetic Improvement of Crops
1 Introduction Plant architecture is one of the most critical factors influencing both morphology and crop yield, and is shaped by the complex interplay of multiple traits, including plant height, tiller numbers and angles, branching patterns, leaf morphology and panicle structure (Barthélémy and Caraglio 2007; Reinhardt and Kuhlemeier 2002).
Saturation of space weathering in shaping lunar regolith particle morphology - Nature Communications
Abstract The lunar mare regolith preserves tripartite records of volcanism, impacting, and space weathering. However, previous studies based on limited soil particle numbers were hindered by issues of sample representativeness. Here we conduct micro-CT scans of bulk soil samples from Chang’e-5 (nearside) and Chang’e-6 (farside), and develop machine learning-based image segmentation and classification methods to identify a vast number of basalt, agglutinate, breccia, and monomineralic particles.

Engineered peptides bolster plant plasticity
Signaling peptides are known for their prominent roles in plant growth, development, and environmental adaptation (Zhang et al., 2025). However, their extremely low natural abundance and highly dynamic expression patterns pose significant technical challenges to extract sufficient amounts with good purity for biological studies and practical applications. Consequently, chemical synthesis and microbial systems offer attractive alternatives to obtain potent peptides at higher quantities and purity.

A microRNA defines root regeneration - Nature Plants
Injury-induced regeneration allows plants to restore lost or damaged cells, tissues and organs and thus to survive severe injuries. A recent study shows that the microRNA396–GROWTH REGULATING FACTORs (miR396–GRFs) module has a bifunctional role in restoring a damaged root: miR396 bolsters regeneration potential, while its targets, the GRFs, accelerate regeneration speed.
