Case Report of Combined Central and Peripheral Demyelination: Treated With Ofatumumab
1 Introduction Combined central and peripheral demyelination (CCPD) is a rare autoimmune-mediated disorder characterized by demyelination affecting both the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS) [1]. The involvement of the CNS typically manifests as longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) and optic neuritis, whereas PNS involvement commonly presents as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) [2].

Boosting carrier mobility in MgAgSb via in-situ InSb nanoprecipitates for high-efficiency segmented thermoelectric module - Nature Communications
Abstract Carrier mobility has conventionally been manipulated to enhance thermoelectric performance by reducing crystal defects. Therefore, an effective strategy for optimizing carrier mobility is highly desired for nanostructured materials. In this work, InSb nanoprecipitates are formed in situ within the nanostructured MgAgSb matrix, serving as channels for accelerating charge carriers.
Photonic Torons with 3D Topology Transitions and Tunable Spin Monopoles
Topological defects and textures play crucial roles in fundamental physics and modern information science. Torons are a class of three-dimensional (3D) chiral topological structures with both skyrmionic quasiparticle textures and monopole point defects, so far only observed in liquid crystals with both polar and nonpolar symmetry.
High performance relaxor ferroelectric textured ceramics for electrocaloric refrigeration - Nature Communications
Abstract Relaxor ferroelectric ceramics have emerged as promising candidates for electrocaloric cooling systems due to their relatively higher heating and cooling capacities. However, simultaneously achieving high temperature changes (ΔT) and a wide operating temperature range remains a significant challenge, limiting their practical applications.
Oriented Bi2Te3-based films enabled high performance planar thermoelectric cooling device for hot spot elimination - Nature Communications
Abstract Film-thermoelectric cooling devices are expected to provide a promising active thermal management solution with the continues increase of the power density of integrated circuit chips and other electronic devices. However, because the microstructure-related performance of thermoelectric films has not been perfectly matched with the device configuration, the potential of planar devices on chip heat dissipation has still not been fully exploited.
Ultrahigh thermal stability and piezoelectricity of lead-free KNN-based texture piezoceramics - Nature Communications

Phase interface engineering enables state-of-the-art half-Heusler thermoelectrics - Nature Communications
Abstract In thermoelectric, phase interface engineering proves effective in reducing the lattice thermal conductivity via interface scattering and amplifying the density-of-states effective mass by energy filtering. However, the indiscriminate introduction of phase interfaces inevitably leads to diminished carrier mobility. Moreover, relying on a singular energy barrier is insufficient for comprehensive filtration of low-energy carriers throughout the entire temperature range.

Divacancy and resonance level enables high thermoelectric performance in n-type SnSe polycrystals - Nature Communications
Abstract N-type polycrystalline SnSe is considered as a highly promising candidates for thermoelectric applications due to facile processing, machinability, and scalability. However, existing efforts do not enable a peak ZT value exceeding 2.0 in n-type polycrystalline SnSe. Here, we realized a significant ZT enhancement by leveraging the synergistic effects of divacancy defect and introducing resonance level into the conduction band.

Ultrasonic reduction: an unconventional route to exsolute Ag from perovskite La(Ag)FeO3−δ for enhanced catalytic oxidation activity† We explore an uncommon ultrasonic reduction method to exsolute Ag from perovskite La0.87Ag0.03FeO3−δ, forming a composite with enhanced catalytic oxidation activity. Such a mild exsolution is based on the coupling effect of ultrasonic cavitation and reducible BH4−, and holds great potential in the fields of energy and environment catalysis.

Neuromechanics-Based Neural Feedback Controller for Planar Arm Reaching Movements
Abstract : Based on the principles of neuromechanics, human arm movements result from the dynamic interaction between the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems. To develop an effective neural feedback controller for neuro-rehabilitation training, it is important to consider both the effects of muscles and skeletons. In this study, we designed a neuromechanics-based neural feedback controller for arm reaching movements.

WUSCHEL triggers innate antiviral immunity in plant stem cells
Building a safe space for stem cells The meristem, the collection of stem cells that builds plants, is resistant to viral infection. Wu et al. now show that WUSCHEL, a transcription factor that helps to sustain stem cell production in the shoot apical meristem of Arabidopsis, also protects that stem cell domain from viruses. WUSCHEL inhibited viral protein synthesis by repressing methyltransferases that regulate ribosomal RNA processing and ribosome stability. Science, this issue p.

Contrasting role of small metallic elements (M=Cu, Zn, Ni) in enhancing thermoelectric performance of n-type PbM0.01Se
Contrasting role of small metallic elements (M=Cu, Zn, Ni) in enhancing thermoelectric performance of n-type PbM0.01Se The metallic elements with a small atomic radius can not only compensate for the intrinsic vacancies to improve the carrier mobility, but also can form interstitials to reduce lattice thermal conductivity. In this work, we investigate the contrasting role of three different metallic elements with small radius on the thermoelectric properties of n-type PbM0.01Se (M=Cu, Zn, Ni).
