Minimum Executive Involvement (in Tech Decisions)
There are some interesting disconnects going on in the world of enterprise technology. There is growing agreement that technology matters in all areas of the business. Leaders of these areas are generally concerned with potential issues of choosing the wrong technology or implementing it incorrectly. And, whether using regret, pessimism, or studies that show dissatisfaction with digital returns, the negativity is high. But this may be caused by one of the disconnects I see.
The Fairytale of the Launch
Last week, the lead singer, Shane MacGowan, of one of my favorite bands, The Pogues, died. I've toasted him with a glass or two of whiskey over the past several days (which is very appropriate if you know his story) while listening to lots and lots of his music (with the Pogues and more). And then I realized that it had been a while since I did a song parody. As I looked through the lyrics of the songs I loved I realized a few things.

I continue to think about the issues surrounding confidence as it relates to today’s technology buying (including renewing and expanding) decisions. This was partially sparked by our guest keynote at the Tech Growth and Innovation Conference, but extended as I look at new data and have more discussions on tech buying behavior. Then an idea started to form –what if we could create a formula to assess decision confidence.
