KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Missouri lawmakers wrapped up the 2026 legislative session Friday without passing property tax reform, despite both parties calling it a top priority. In negotiations behind the scenes, a property tax reform bill died when lawmakers couldn’t come to an agreement. All year, lawmakers from both the House and Senate and both Republicans and Democrats said getting Missourians property tax relief was their number one priority.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The day before lawmakers leave Jefferson City for the year, Missouri’s governor celebrates his wins. Gov. Mike Kehoe praises what he calls a successful legislative session. Lawmakers passed his tax plan, which will go to voters on the ballot in August or November. If voters approve the plan, the state income tax will be eliminated and lawmakers can raise sales tax or introduce new ones to replace the revenue.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The clock is ticking for Missouri lawmakers to pass any remaining bills this year. Missouri lawmakers have less than three days to pass legislation that would give childhood sexual abuse survivors more time to file civil claims before the bill dies at the end of the legislative session. The bill would indefinitely extend the statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse survivors.
