Lauren Mayberry Delivers a Vicious Performance in Houston – Off Record Media
Last Monday, Lauren Mayberry made her first stop in Texas on the Vicious Creature tour at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, with opener Cult of Venus. Kicking off the evening was the one woman show of Cult of Venus. The stage was set with only a mic, keyboard and guitar but by no means was her set anything less than extraordinary. Fentanyl quickly has become the bogeyman that "bath salts" were a decade ago and that marijuana was some 80 years ago, with many puzzled at the frequency in which it is used and implicated in deaths.

Embracing open design in 2019
Automation is killing the tedium in design, but our jobs are about to get more exciting This article originally appeared on Abstract’s blog. With new studies showing that companies prioritizing design are seeing 32% higher revenue than those who aren’t, it’s no surprise that the conversation around design trends (a word we all love to hate) is no longer about gradients. The way designers work is changing.
Stop dwelling on being design-led: Focus on the user.
A bold headline jumped out at us recently: “John Maeda: In reality, design is not that important.” The design leader, who is currently head of inclusion and computational design at Automattic, told Fast Company that “designers should focus on being good teammates rather than leaders.” As designers, we initially bristled a little. But as a team of designers, engineers, and business people, we also asked ourselves if we were just being sensitive.
