Helen Lederer on What It Takes to Be Funny
Any canny publisher knows that witty literature shifts more units, than, let’s say, books about maths, voles, or trees. And with good reason. Humor connects people. Laughter keeps the fear of loneliness at bay and acts as a protector against anxiety and depression.

My grandfather's life as a Second World War secret listener
It’s not every day one receives an invitation from the Imperial War Museum to host an internal tour, specifically to showcase certain exhibits “relevant to my own family story” for the paying public. Not That I'm Bitter A Truly, Madly, Funny Memoir by Helen Lederer
LoveReading Says Helen Lederer has been around a while (in the nicest possible way) and has got the scars to prove it. A comedy writer with an extensive portfolio that includes writing and performing her own material, not only as a stand-up comedian but also as a comedy novelist and contributor to various publications. For the first time she opens the door to a full account of her life, and I loved sharing her journey.

Mavis Cheek obituary
Declan Donnelly and Anthony McPartlin were not the only stars to come from teen drama Byker Grove. The Geordie duo, who played Duncan (Donnelly) and PJ (McPartlin), were known for the phrase Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble which was later turned into a song that topped the charts. They are set to become creative consultants of the reboot which will be called Byker and so far does not have a broadcaster attached.

He’s writing a piece for Vanity Fair about the three women performers at the festival. I’m meeting him with the aim of a free glass of wine and compliments.

Just as things are starting to look really bleak for Millie, a fantastic opportunity comes her way, giving her that chance to finally sort her life out. She is offered £20,000 to lose weight.
