A cytokinin response maximum induces and activates bifacial stem cells for radial growth - Nature Plants
Abstract Wood is formed as plants expand in thickness through radial growth, which initiates after apical growth. At the onset of radial growth, dormant procambial cells in the vasculature become active and act as bifacial cambium stem cells, which produce xylem (wood) inward and phloem outward. Cytokinin has been implicated in radial growth initiation; however, its precise mechanisms, especially at the cellular level, remain unclear.
Brassinosteroids promote pollen tube guidance by coordinating gene expression in male and female reproductive tissues
Keywords brassinosteroid steroid hormone plant reproduction pollen tube ovule filiform apparatus Research topic(s) CP: Plants Introduction Brassinolide (BL), the most active form of brassinosteroids (BRs), was originally isolated from the pollen grains of Brassica napus L.1 BRs are enriched in the pollen and seeds of various angiosperm species and promote cell elongation and division.2 In animals, steroid hormones, such as androgens, estrogens, and progesterone, play roles in reproductive...
