Jackson’s Gu(i-D)e to Ibiza
I first came to Ibiza in 2011 with my family. I was 15, and somehow convinced my mum that shisha wasn’t the same as smoking. I didn’t go clubbing, but I spent the whole trip plotting how to sneak into Space or Amnesia. I never made it. 14 years later, here we are. I was asked to attend Mau P’s residency at the world-famous night club, Pacha. Of course I said yes—I love holidays, I love dancing, and most of all I love giving people my deranged opinions and bad advice.

Run Away to Paradise
Cam Lindfors and I first met in Paris, sweating through a heatwave at a Swedish café, beers in hand, talking about California. It felt oddly fitting—this hazy, golden warmth—like we’d stepped straight into the pages of One Half Paradise, his new photobook. Originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lindfors now splits his time between Paris and the States.
Inside Japan’s Blistering Hardcore Techno Underground
In the shadowy clubs of 1990s Osaka, a new kind of sonic intensity took root. Fueled by the pounding aggression of Dutch Gabber, fused with the digital sheen of anime aesthetics and early gaming culture, Japanese Hardcore Techno, often referred to as J-Core, exploded into a scene like no other.

Welcome to Fantasy Island!
Fantasy Island, the latest publication from Rotten Books—founders of Rotmag, a magazine-come-collage of sorts that features one of my favourite mag covers (issue 02)— is somewhat of an oxymoron. It’s a tome (over 300 pages featuring 70 different Irish photographers), but also contains intimate photography from the wonderful Isle.

Gui-De to Photo London
It’s May, so that can only mean one thing: endless bank holidays, beer gardens and London’s Photo London exhibition, an annual photography fair which is hosted yearly within the grounds of Somerset House. I go every year, for better or for worse, so here are my tips and tricks. The Tent is just a tent, a large white structure in the middle of the grounds. You really can’t miss it, even if you wanted to. In fact, most people I bump into during the event actively avoid it.
Cameron Winter Summer
The best album of this year—which was actually released, with relatively little fanfare, last December—is Heavy Metal, a surreal and wounded folk-rock record by a probable-genius musician named Cameron Winter. It’s fabulous and macabre, kind of sexy, and pretty alienating. The album’s disparate vibes are tied together by Winter’s foghorn voice and uncanny lyrics. Winter’s music can feel oblique on a literal level.

Would You Eat This?
Have you ever eaten roadkill? I’ve eaten at many questionable establishments in my life, so the answer to this could actually be yes. However, this evening I will be making a deliberate decision to dine on animals flattened by Honda Civics and Eddie Stobart Lorries. If I’m honest, I’m not too phased about the act of eating an animal that isn’t a cow or chicken. I’ve always found people’s hypocritical approach to the food they consume kind of funny but also really annoying.

Keep going. You’re killing it. The world is massive. “The fairytales weren’t lying?” Susanna Salgado-Tappuni, 22 “March was a madness.” Tariro Muzenda, 21, Netherlands “Correlating purpose with randomness.” Mirko Ostuni, 21, Italy

What Does a Photographer Do at Fashion Week, Even?
I got asked to photograph London Fashion Week by the guys up top. Wait—no, they didn’t ask me. More like forced me. At first, it seemed like a chore, but the kind of chore you learn to tolerate, maybe even love—like sweeping crumbs off the kitchen floor or scrubbing mould off the shower. This was my first fashion week as a so-called “important” person. I’m not sure if they know it yet, but I’m the Photo Editor of i-D now! Not that it matters.
Burberry Fall/Winter 2025
Fashion girlies live for a good conspiracy. Has the determined French creative director cozied up to a storied Italian house, or is the gravitational pull of a namesake label too irresistible? How on earth has that controversial stylist-slash-magazine founder managed to evade cancel culture? And, seriously, who the fuck is Boring Not Com?
An Interview with Gay Author Edmund White
For over fifty years, Edmund White has been the foremost chronicler of gay life. In his memoirs, novels and essays, the American writer has documented its shifting landscape. In 1982’s A Boy’s Own Story, , he wrote about growing up in the repressive American midwest of the 1950s, while City Boy (2009) dealt with the post-Stonewall liberation of 1970s New York.
Inside the Denim Tears and i-D London Party
“I’ve done parties for the last 15 years because I love hearing music on a good sound system in a small room with people dancing,” said Tremaine Emory. Denim Tears and i-D hosted exactly that in London on 7 December, in a no-name, no-photos-please secret lounge to celebrate Denim Tears’s first London pop-up. With James Massiah, Vegyn, Jordss, and AAA DJing and Belvedere Vodka pouring cocktails, it was a long night with plenty of dancing.

Chopova Lowena Sample Sale Street Style
“Skirts, obviously!” was the resounding response on the long, long, loooooong queue for the Chopova Lowena sample sale at the brand’s Deptford studio. Francesco and Emma, the first duo in line, started waiting at 3 a.m. the morning of the sale—other pairs of friends and lovers arrived shortly thereafter for a chance to cop one of the label’s coveted carabiner skirts.
Isaac Powell Actor Interview
When Isaac Powell was a high school senior boarding at the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts, the actor’s dorm window was the only one in his building that hinged outwards; it became a portal for his bad behaviour. “I smoked so much pot,” he says now, laughing in a London café.
Ruaridh Mollica Interview
Ruaridh Mollica wants to grow a beard, make a piece of furniture and find a pearl in the clutches of an oyster at the bottom of the sea. The actor – Italian and Scottish and handsome – tells me such things when we meet on a Friday afternoon at a private member’s club in London, joking about how wank-y the whole set-up will sound in writing – while, granted, smoking a cigarette and ordering a Bellini.
Ethan Herisse Actor Interview
It’s strange to talk to an actor about a film in which he spent as much time behind the camera as he did in front of it. But in late 2022 in Louisiana, that’s what Ethan Herisse, the lead star of Nickel Boys, did. Though its subject matter is severe, the actor, 24, revelled in the strangeness of the shooting experience.
Emma Laird Actor Interview
The way Emma Laird tells it, she booked her role in the majestic, Oscar-tipped new film The Brutalist because director Brady Corbet trapped her hand in a cupboard door. They were shooting an episode of Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room in mid-2021 when it happened. “He felt so bad he bought me an original poster for Paris, Texas from its Cannes premiere, which I have framed in my bedroom upstairs,” Laird says, grinning on a video call from her flat in Hampstead, North London.
Tuwaine Barrett Actor Interview
In Hard Truths, the actor Tuwaine Barrett barely says a word. The sore and beautifully-handled drama from director Mike Leigh bears witness to a woman (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) in London’s suburbs in the throes of a mental breakdown; Barrett plays her son Moses, a recluse who bears the brunt of it. For the South Londoner, who’s been a jobbing actor since he graduated, it’s a fascinating shift into the spotlight: memorable for being measured; for what he doesn’t do, rather than what he does.
Mia Tharia Actor Interview
Mia Tharia blasts into the small Soho offices where we’re having our interview in a breathless rush: she lost her keys, but she’s found them now and she’s so sorry and she ran over as quickly as she could. But the actor is mere minutes late. Tonight’s the premiere of her debut film September Says at the London Film Festival and she’s going straight into hair and make-up after we chat, and then to the premiere down the road from where she grew up in South London.

Saoirse-Monica Jackson on ‘Derry Girls’ and ‘The Decameron’
This article was featured in One Great Story, New York’s reading recommendation newsletter. Sign up here to get it nightly. WhenDerry Girls, the Channel 4 sitcom turned Netflix comedy juggernaut, ended in 2022 after a rapturously received three-season run, actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson found it hard to fully separate from her character.
Welcome Back To The Black Parade: How '00s Emo Has Invaded Beauty
Indie, scene, skater... The '00s brought us numerous alternative subcultures, but there's one in particular which hits many of us with an intense wave of nostalgia: emo. Born from the emotional hardcore genre, bands like Hawthorne Heights, Funeral For A Friend and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus reigned supreme, singing (and screaming) about everything from society to heartache and failed relationships. But emo was always more about aesthetics and style than it was ever really about music.
The Journey of Nike's Women's World Cup Jerseys; From Production to Pitch
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France is officially underway, with 24 teams from across the world battling it out on the pitch for the coveted trophy. It’s already making history – the England vs. Scotland match smashed the UK TV viewing record for a women’s football match, drawing in 6.1 million excited fans. It’s expected many more will tune in throughout the tournament, which culminates with the final in Lyon on July 7.
