Professor Keehoon Kim and Ph.D. candidate Jaewon Byun from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) have developed an “Intelligent Autonomous Wiping and UV-C Disinfection Robot” capable of automating hospital disinfection processes.

With escalating modern industrial growth and expanding human activities, both the environment and energy are confronted with severe challenges [1], [2]. In particular, as of April 2024, the concentration of CO2 has reached 426.8 ppm, exacerbating the greenhouse effects [3]. Therefore, it is crucial to alleviate the greenhouse effects and develop highly effective methods for transforming inert CO2 into valuable fuels and chemicals [4], [5].

Since smart technologies have advanced to the point where real-time monitoring and direct customer load control are now feasible, making resource adequacy a private good is now becoming a viable option. This could represent a cost-effective alternative to capacity remuneration mechanisms with pre-determined adequacy targets and promote efficient use of electricity to help accelerate the decarbonization process.
