Jakub Rudnik’s Biography

I am a Chicago-based freelance journalist. Primarily, I cover local and high school sports, particularly football and basketball. I have covered NCAA, NBA and PGA games and events.

In addition to reporting, I have experience as an SEO and Content Marketing manager in SaaS and the automotive industries.

Beyond local sports, my areas of interest for reporting include: technology, startups, SaaS, sports betting, history, music, housing and urban planning.

How is social media changing news?

Social media is allowing news to break faster, often by non-journalists. It is also leading to more mistakes as reporters rush to break news.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use social media, WordPress, InDesign, Photoshop and Excel spreadsheets.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter gives users the chance to see real-time reactions from analysts, athletes and other fans during sporting events.
