The Rye girls basketball team lost their final two games of the regular season, but heading into the playoffs, the campaign as a whole has been a resounding success. With a record of 17-3, the Garnets nearly doubled their win total from last season, when they went 9-12 and lost in the first round to Tappan Zee. This season, the team has its sights set on much more than just a postseason appearance. As the No. 2 seed, Rye hosts 15th-seeded Somers (6-14) at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Improved Rye Neck Boys Experiencing a Season of Streaks

This season has been one of streaks for the Rye Neck boys basketball team. They began their season with nine consecutive wins. Then, between Jan. 15 and Jan. 23, they lost three games in a row, including two at home and two by single digits. Then they won two games in a row. The Panthers were able to prevent their latest loss, a 62-48 setback Jan. 31 at Westlake, from turning into another streak.
