A car has been destroyed in an overnight fire in Dundee. Emergency services were called to Craigard Road in the Charleston area just before 3am on Thursday. The car has been left completely burnt out, while another car has suffered rear-end damage due to the heat of the fire. A police vehicle remained at the scene later on Thursday morning, near the junction with Craigmount Road. One resident told The Courier they heard the tyres popping as they called emergency services.

Locals have praised the return of Dundee’s Christmas lights switch-on after the event was held for the first time in six years. City Square was transformed into a winter wonderland with live music, aerial acrobatics and a range of family activities before the lights of the tree were switched on at 6pm. Following the event, many people took to social media to praise Dundee City Council for reviving the lights switch-on, which had been replaced with other festive activities since 2019.
