Peterborough-based Das Kapitans released their EP Elvytys, Finnish for “resuscitation,” via their own label Socks on Records. In its entirety, the 6-track EP is a restorative act for the band as they welcome a new drummer and embrace full control of the project. The EP features pointed tracks which critique societal hypocrisy, earnest commentary, and cleverly used apathetic vocal tones that marry their garage punk sound seamlessly.

Catskills-based artist Hannah Cohen releases “Golden Chain” her first new music since her critically acclaimed album Earthstar Mountain. The single places Cohen’s graceful, and at times fragile, vocals on the front line of the ballad. Cohen illustrates the beauty of crestfallen stains throughout the delicate nature of “Golden Chain.” Opening with a reminiscent “Across the Universe” tempo, the track changes course seamlessly like leaves on a windy day.

Time becomes noticeable when you realize the subtle change into seasons, and it moves differently when you begin to move with them rather than against. Eve Garland’s ode to girlhood and growing up catches time right in between these transitions and finds a lost memory on “The Dig.” “The Dig” introduces itself as a soft caress of shoegaze with a prominent gloomy build. As the track continues its way down a path of introspection, comes brightness by way of the chorus and a radiant production.
