Hancock Bridge Parkway construction in Cape Coral stirs fears over rain and sidewalk hazards
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A 14-month sidewalk and drainage improvement project along Hancock Bridge Parkway in Cape Coral is underway, with residents expressing both anticipation and concerns about the construction process. All you're going to do is go through mud and stuff, especially with all the rain we've had," Brad Bosley said.
Charlotte Co. hit-and-run driver accepts plea deal for crash that killed 17-year-old Terrell Bruce
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - The family of 17-year-old Terrell Bruce, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash, is calling for a longer prison sentence for the driver, Angelica Clark, who accepted a plea deal and will serve four years. "You did not hit a cat or a dog or a deer. You hit my 17-year-old brother and then you left. You left him there. And he lived there, scared and critically injured and all alone while he's out there," said Aubrey Deming Hernandez, Bruce's sister.
Cape Coral's waterways face growing pressures from development
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral, once envisioned in the 1950s as a modern city, has grown into a community of over 200,000 residents with a 400-mile canal system, but its waterways face challenges as development expands. Jason Pim, president of the Calusa Waterkeeper and a Cape Coral native, works to protect the city's cherished waterways. "Pull up Google Maps, look at this satellite view of Cape Coral on Google Maps and look at what's left of those green spots in Cape Coral," Pim said.
