Court Rules on How Client Use of AI for Legal Strategy is Not Protected | JD Supra
Key Takeaways A federal court ruled that a defendant’s independent use of a publicly available AI platform was not protected by attorney-client privilege or the work product doctrine. The decision highlights how confidentiality and counsel involvement remain central to privilege analysis, even as AI tools evolve. Organizations should take a proactive approach to AI governance and risk mitigation, especially with the current technological shift from generative AI to Agentic AI.

What To Do in Stratford, Ontario
I have always wanted to visit Stratford, Ontario, and to immerse myself in cultural experiences that the town is known for. As an art student in Toronto, I pictured myself sitting in a café with friends, arguing about the artistic direction of a play we had just seen at the Stratford Festival. Sadly, budget and curriculum restrictions thwarted my plans. A couple decades later, I am the editor of a travel blog for a train company that stops in the town.
Council Post: Be A More Human, Authentic Leader
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the world can change instantaneously and without warning. For the first time, the traditional ways of working were severely disrupted, and leaders became the central focus to answer the infamous question, “What’s next?” Leaders had never been put in such a position before. Throughout history, yes, significant events had taken place, but nothing as disruptive and unknown as the infamous Covid-19.
Fun Things to Do in Ottawa Without a Car
There are so many reasons to go car-free when visiting a city. Along with escaping the frustrations of traffic, GPS apps and parking fees, there is the simple joy of discovering a city on foot. What’s more satisfying than finding a hidden café, green lane or local shop so easily zoomed past in a car? I’ve been to Ottawa many times, but usually on the outskirts visiting family, and never long enough to get a feel for the city.
Jennifer Bauer: So, where do you live?
Jennifer Bauer | Other Voices A man lying on the side of the highway with his dog. How is this a threat? Why are the people of this county calling the police on humans who are in such a bad way that the side of the highway is now their home? This was a place this person felt safe enough to sit, not in Starbucks! Not in front of a business, away from people and minding his own business. What is wrong with you people?
Allowing Holiday Gloom.
There’s an expectation and pressure to be jolly and merry in December. We hear promises from songs and commercial advertising that it’s “the most wonderful time of the year” and therefore we should act accordingly. And if we don’t, there must be something wrong with us. This is simply not true. We are allowed to feel whatever we are authentically feeling. For many, that’s overwhelm and grief during the holidays. And what these folks really need is judgment-free space to be exactly as they are.

Jennifer Bauer: Try some compassion for people without homes
I wonder how many readers truly understand homelessness. The cost of land, housing and building is more than most can afford. We just had a fire. A small fire compared to Paradise … Dixie! How many of our greater community have had their homes and every single thing they own burnt to nothing? For anyone who cannot do the math, homelessness and fires are in the same category. Of course, we should always do our very best to save homes, lives of humans and pets.
An actionable anti-racism plan for geoscience organizations
Abstract Geoscience organizations shape the discipline. They influence attitudes and expectations, set standards, and provide benefits to their members. Today, racism and discrimination limit the participation of, and promote hostility towards, members of minoritized groups within these critical geoscience spaces.
Wildcrafted: Making friends with chickweed
Nature provides everything we need. While we buy food from stores, it came from the Earth first. The challenge is, many of us feel disconnected from the source. We don’t know how to grow our own food or anything about edible plants that are freely available. This is what led me to the vibrant green patch of chickweed in my yard. It was thriving, with no help from me. Many people regard it as a nuisance, but for centuries many cultures have used it as food and medicine.
Measuring up
As a 19-year-old working her way through college, Natalee Woods accepted a job at a major retail department store. She imagined she’d sell earrings, shoes or sweaters. Instead, she found herself in the lingerie department, fitting women for bras. Over the next decade, she met women from all walks of life at the job. One-on-one in the dressing room, they shared more than their measurements.
Bound by fashion
For many women, donning a bra is an automatic task. Few question the need to harness their breasts each day. For some, even asking why — especially in public — might feel uncomfortable. This is the kind of women’s history Velya Jancz-Urban and her daughter, Ehris Urban, relish — not grand events or influential figures but the minutiae of everyday life which is often overlooked, ignored or deemed irrelevant.
Gazing into space
Around the world, people are watching never-before-seen footage from the surface of Mars after the successful landing Feb. 18 of NASA’s latest rover, Perseverance. The scientific step forward was a bright spot amid earthly headlines about the pandemic and politics. For those who want to continue exploring the mysteries of space, the Palouse Discovery Science Center often partners with the Palouse Astronomical Society to hold outdoor viewing parties.
“We cannot Avoid Pain”-Life Lessons from a Recovering Obsessive-Compulsive Perfectionist.
Learning to Surrender to What Is. For a recovering obsessive–compulsive, controlling perfectionist, this just might be the single most challenging and elusive life lesson to learn. For as long as I can remember, I was a planner—I am damn good at it, too. I was paid quite well in the corporate world to strategize, organize, and make plans A through Z; so that I could pluck out and execute a plan based on whatever changing variables I managed to predict.

Prichard Art Gallery shifts focus
The University of Idaho announced Tuesday it is shifting priorities for the Prichard Art Gallery in downtown Moscow, focusing on student and faculty work rather than outside exhibitions. It also ended a contract with Director Roger Rowley, who held the position for 15 years. The gallery, which operates under the auspices of the UI College of Art and Architecture, has long been recognized as one of the few public, contemporary art galleries in the state.

The "Do it all Myself" Mentality that's Born from Trauma & Feeling Unworthy.
View this post on Instagram The “do it all myself” mentality is praised by society as a strong work ethic and tenacious independence. But it’s actually a habit born from trauma and feeling unworthy. Symptoms include workaholism, perfectionism, and a need to control and plan. Other signs include heavy guilt, overspending time on anything not considered “productive,” restlessness when still, and an addiction to the adrenaline of busyness. I know because I’m a work in progress here.

News Sign up for our Newsletters Latest News HOUSTON – Family and close friends gathered Sunday at the gravesite to remember 6-year-old Moses Jimenez, who was killed in a drive-by shooting one year ago in southeast Houston. They held hands and prayed and released balloons, all in honor of the first-grader who was taken too soon. "It still doesn't even feel like a year. It feels like it was a couple of months ago. It's been really hard," his mother, Elizabeth Garcia, said.
