Attrition is impacting the domestic ceramic tile industry at both the production and installation level. A new initiative between U.S. tile producers and the state of Tennessee, where most factories are located, could be the key to solving both sides of the problem.

On July 4, 2025, the area was engulfed in torrential flooding as the equivalent of more than a month’s worth of rain was dumped on the region.

Organized by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, the 2026 International Tile Competition invites architects and designers worldwide to submit projects completed within the past five years featuring Italian ceramic and porcelain tile from Ceramics of Italy member brands.
