Vast cellular gene-expression atlas could transform how scientists understand brain ageing and disease
NEWS AND VIEWS 23 September 2026 Single-nucleus RNA sequencing captures molecular changes in the prefrontal cortex across the lifespan and in health and disease. A collaborative project from the PsychAD Consortium has compiled RNA-expression (transcriptomic) data from millions of individual brain cells in samples provided by nearly 1,500 people.

Genetic Variants Associated With Circulating Liver Injury Markers in Mexican Americans, a Population at Risk for Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Objective: Mexican Americans are disproportionally affected by non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Noninvasive means to identify those in this population at high risk for these diseases are urgently needed. Approach: The Cameron County Hispanic Cohort (CCHC) is a population-based cohort with high rates of obesity (51%), type 2 diabetes (28%) and NAFLD (49%).

An X Chromosome Transcriptome Wide Association Study Implicates ARMCX6 in Alzheimer's Disease
Abstract Background: The X chromosome is often omitted in disease association studies despite containing thousands of genes which may provide insight into well-known sex differences in the risk of Alzheimer's Disease. Objective: To model the expression of X chromosome genes and evaluate their impact on Alzheimer's Disease risk in a sex-stratified manner.

Recommendations for Statistical Reporting in Cardiovascular Medicine
A Special Report From the American Heart Association Originally published25 May 2021https://doi.org/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.055393Circulation. ;0:CIRCULATIONAHA.121.055393 Abstract Statistical analyses are a crucial component of the biomedical research process and are necessary to draw inferences from biomedical research data. The application of sound statistical methodology is a prerequisite for publication in the American Heart Association (AHA) journal portfolio.

Critical Evaluation of Data Requires Rigorous but Broadly Based Statistical InferenceResponse by Lem Moyé and Michelle Cohen
The rampant misuse of the P value and of its stated meaning lead the American Statistical Association to comment, researchers often wish to turn a P value into a statement about the truth of a null hypothesis, or about the probability that random chance produced the observed data. The P value is neither.
