ALICE, Texas — Ten people were taken to the hospital following a hazmat incident at an Alice hotel Friday that also prompted CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice to temporarily go into lockdown. The incident began shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the Quality Inn in the 500 block of North Johnson Street on the north side of Alice. This story continues below.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Heritage Park Town Clock has been a fixture in Corpus Christi for nearly 20 years, but visitors may notice it is temporarily missing. According to the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department, the clock has been removed for maintenance, repair and restoration. Crews used a bucket truck and flatbed trailer to carefully remove the timepiece from the park. The city expects the work to be completed in fall 2026, weather permitting.

REALITOS, Texas — Two people were taken to the hospital after a train derailment in rural Duval County on Wednesday morning. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 10:45 a.m. when a truck tractor-trailer hauling a bulldozer became stuck on a railroad crossing near Realitos. The driver was attempting to notify authorities when the train struck the trailer and bulldozer, causing several empty rail cars to derail.
