The Lincoln Memorial's hidden ‘cathedral' now on display as Undercroft museum opens

Visitors at the Lincoln Memorial will now be able to view the iconic marble building in a brand-new light with the opening of the Undercroft museum. The Undercroft is a previously unseen space within the Lincoln Memorial that has now been turned into a 15,000-square-foot exhibit area, revealing the massive concrete foundations that support the structure. The museum officially opened to the public on Thursday.

Dupont Circle Park closure during Pride met with community pushback

Community members are expressing outrage over the federal government's closure of a popular Pride gathering place. The National Park Service (NPS) fenced off the park at Dupont Circle Friday. The agency blamed violence and vandalism in past years for the closure, but the park has been likened to the beating heart of D.C.’s LGBTQ+ community. A similar closure last year was reversed after fierce pushback. U.S. Park Police vehicles and the National Guard were visible at Dupont Circle Saturday.

Prince George's teaches fire safety in honor of Suitland boy killed in house fire

There was a massive push Saturday in Prince George's County to make sure residents have working smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and have a fire safety plan to ensure their families know what to do if there is ever a fire. The event was held in honor of a boy who was killed in a fire last year. CPR, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers — all tools that can save a life. Those who didn’t know how to use them were able to learn at the event.
