What was your first job as a journalist?
When I was a kid, I used to tear pages out of copybooks to make my own newspapers - does that count?
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes and I loved it. I love all that old-timey stuff.
How is social media changing news?
It has its ups and downs. On the one hand, everything can be found on social media. On the other... everything is already on social media...

Google Docs, Gmail, Fred4, Dropbox
What's your favorite social network?
I've been hooked on tiktok recently but I have to say Instagram is top of the list for me.
Why did you become a journalist?
I love talking to people and retelling their stories. I also love getting my teeth into a good story, whether it be crime, arts or otherwise
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was editor of my university newspaper for four years and led four separate teams of journalists to produce 12 newspapers a year
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Sometimes you have to build your own steps to get to the top of the career ladder. It's never easy.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Outside, walking or hiking, reading a book, catching up with friends or playing music
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I subscribe to the Irish Independent and will go through it almost daily.
